The combining of status information*

The Journal of Mathematical Sociology, 1998
This paper presents an analysis of the combining mechanism for status information postulated by the mathematical formulation of the theory of status characteristics and expectation states. Six lemmas on the basic features of the combining mechanism are derived from the formulation and discussed.

Information systems curriculum—a status report

ACM SIGCSE Bulletin, 1994
This paper provides a status report of the joint curriculum task force effort to develop a new model curriculum for undergraduate programs in Information Systems. The curriculum work is the first collaborative effort between ACM, AIS and DPMA. After a brief description of the background and current task force activities are presented, the recommended ...

Current Status of a Medical Information System

Methods of Information in Medicine, 1970
A pilot medical information system is being implemented and currently is providing services for limited categories of patient data. In one year, physicians’ diagnoses for 500,000 office visits, 300,000 drug prescriptions for outpatients, one million clinical laboratory tests, and 60,000 multiphasic screening examinations are being stored in and ...

The Status Quo of Systems-of-Information Systems

2019 IEEE/ACM 7th International Workshop on Software Engineering for Systems-of-Systems (SESoS) and 13th Workshop on Distributed Software Development, Software Ecosystems and Systems-of-Systems (WDES), 2019
The modernization of business processes have pressured Software-Intensive Information Systems (IS) to interoperate with several types of systems, such as cyberphysical systems, drones, satellites, and mobiles, arising a new type of complex systems so-called Systems-of-Information Systems (SoIS).

The Moral Status of Information and Information Technologies

2007
The purpose of this chapter is to explore whether information and information technology in certain cases ought to be valued as ends in themselves rather than as mere means to other ends. I will address this problem by proposing a theory of moral status: a theory of who or what has moral status in the sense that we, as moral agents, have an obligation ...

Subordination and information status

2014
This paper examines one type of subordinate construction in Japanese, namely, complement clauses, in particular those where two different complementizers, to and koto, are interchangeable.  Despite the general notion that main clauses code foreground information (or express a main assertion) while subordinate clauses code background information (or ...

On the Information Status of Appositive Relative Clauses

2012
Existing semantic theories of appositive relative clauses (ARCs) assume that ARCs contribute asserted but not at-issue content (Boer & Lycan [4], Bach [3], Chierchia & McConnell-Ginet [5], Potts [13], AnderBois et al. [2], Murray [12]). In this paper I demonstrate that the information status of ARCs depends on their linear position in the clause ...

Status of information systems accreditation

ACM SIGCSE Bulletin, 2001
Accreditation standards have been developed for BS programs in Information Systems and have been widely reviewed. The standards drew heavily on the existing computer science accreditation standard and recent curriculum efforts in information systems. The effort was facilitated by support from the National Science Foundation (NSFDUE 9812278).

Processing Sequential Status Information

Social Psychology Quarterly, 1990
We investigated effects of the provision of sequential status information on influence acceptance. For this purpose we introduced a modification of the experimental paradigm used in expectation states theory (EST) research. Influence acceptance was measured in three rounds.
