The Capacity of Private Information Retrieval from Coded Databases [PDF]
We consider the problem of private information retrieval (PIR) over a distributed storage system. The storage system consists of $N$ non-colluding databases, each storing a coded version of $M$ messages. In the PIR problem, the user wishes to retrieve one of the available messages without revealing the message identity to any individual database.

The man/machine interface in information retrieval: Providing access to the casual user [PDF]
This study is concerned with the difficulties encountered by casual users wishing to employ Information Storage and Retrieval Systems. A casual user is defined as a professional who has neither time nor desire to pursue in depth the study of the numerous

The Capacity of Private Information Retrieval from Uncoded Storage Constrained Databases [PDF]
Private information retrieval (PIR) allows a user to retrieve a desired message from a set of databases without revealing the identity of the desired message. The replicated databases scenario was considered by Sun and Jafar, 2016, where $N$ databases can store the same $K$ messages completely. A PIR scheme was developed to achieve the optimal download

A Comparative Study of Sparse Associative Memories
We study various models of associative memories with sparse information, i.e. a pattern to be stored is a random string of $0$s and $1$s with about $\log N$ $1$s, only. We compare different synaptic weights, architectures and retrieval mechanisms to shed

Secure and Private Cloud Storage Systems with Random Linear Fountain Codes
An information theoretic approach to security and privacy called Secure And Private Information Retrieval (SAPIR) is introduced. SAPIR is applied to distributed data storage systems. In this approach, random combinations of all contents are stored across
