In modular polyketide synthases, the dehydratase (DH) domain catalyzes the dehydration reaction of the β‐hydroxyacyl unit attached to the cognate acyl carrier protein (ACP) domain. However, it is unclear how DH interacts with ACP during the reaction. In this study, we identified DH–ACP interface residues, providing the first detailed insights into DH ...

Knowledge for a warmer world: a patent analysis of climate change adaptation technologies [PDF]
Technologies can help strengthen the resilience of our economy against existential climate-risks. We investigate climate change adaptation technologies (CCATs) in US patents to understand (1) historical patterns and drivers of innovation; (2) scientific and technological requirements to develop and use CCATs; and (3) CCATs' potential technological ...

Low‐density lipoprotein receptor‐related protein 6 (LRP6) is a key receptor for the Wnt antagonist Dickkopf1 (DKK1). DKK1 protein expression is induced in a bleomycin (BLM)‐induced lung injury model. We show that DKK1 induces proinflammatory and profibrotic genes in lung fibroblasts.

Exploring assessment method of technological advancement based on literature cross-citation [PDF]
Assessing advancements of technology is essential for creating science and technology policies and making informed investments in the technology market. However, current methods primarily focus on the characteristics of the technologies themselves, making it difficult to accurately assess technologies across various fields and generations.

Insertion of the FeB cofactor in cNORs lacking metal inserting chaperones
Nitric oxide reductase is an enzyme found in the bacterial denitrification pathway. The NOR active site contains a non‐heme iron, often, but not always inserted with the assistance of chaperones. Here, we study the insertion of FeB in the subfamily of cNORs lacking chaperones and found a putative channel, conserved in the family, perhaps enabling the ...
