Shape theory and mathematical design of a general geometric kernel through regular stratified objects

open access: yes, 2000
This thesis was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and awarded by Brunel University. This dissertation focuses on the mathematical design of a unified shape kernel for geometric computing, with possible applications to computer aided design (

General Secure Information Exchange Protocol for a Multiuser MIMO Relay Channel

open access: yes, 2019
Secure information exchange occurs in many recently emerging cooperative-based networks, such as 5G networks (especially those with a Device to Device architecture), the Internet of Things, and vehicular ad hoc networks. However, the existing information

A Generalized Information-Theoretic Approach for Bounding the Number of Independent Sets in Bipartite Graphs

open access: yes, 2021
This paper studies the problem of upper bounding the number of independent sets in a graph, expressed in terms of its degree distribution. For bipartite regular graphs, Kahn (2001) established a tight upper bound using an information-theoretic approach ...

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Extending fibre nonlinear interference power modelling to account for general dual-polarisation 4d modulation formats

open access: yes, 2020
In optical communications, four-dimensional (4D) modulation formats encode information onto the quadrature components of two arbitrary orthogonal states of polarisation of the optical field.

Generalized entanglement in quantum information theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

On a Connection between Information and Group Lattices

open access: yesEntropy, 2011
In this paper we review a particular connection between information theory and group theory. We formalize the notions of information elements and information lattices, first proposed by Shannon.

Early‐life high‐fat diet exposure increases Achilles tendon stiffness and induces transcriptomic alterations

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.
