Effective Ligand Design: Zinc Complexes with Guanidine Hydroquinoline Ligands for Fast Lactide Polymerization and Chemical Recycling. [PDF]

Specific design: Using a hydroquinoline backbone for zinc guanidine complexes in the ring‐opening polymerization of lactide results in an enormous activity increase compared to their aromatic counterparts. Not only is the complex very active in the polymerization of lactide, but it also catalyzes the chemical recycling process of solvolysis.

A Multitool for Circular Economy: Fast Ring‐Opening Polymerization and Chemical Recycling of (Bio)polyesters Using a Single Aliphatic Guanidine Carboxy Zinc Catalyst

Complex as multitool: A new aliphatic N,O‐guanidine ligand and its ZnCl2 complex are presented. The complex shows high catalytic activity towards both ring‐opening polymerization of lactide in the monomer melt and methanolysis of polylactide, as well as other (bio)polyesters.

Versatile Allrounder: We report the first iron catalyst active in the selective alcoholysis and aminolysis of PLA using different nucleophiles.
