Infrared fibres in astronomical instrumentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
For several years multi-object spectroscopy systems have been available for carrying out survey work in the visible region, but until very recently there has not been a system for the near infrared region.

Comparative Evaluation of Smartphone‐Based Fundus Imaging Systems in Dogs and Cats

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 29, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare the feasibility, image quality, acquisition time, and evaluator preference of four smartphone‐based fundus imaging (SBFI) systems in dogs and cats using a handheld fundus camera as a reference device. Animals Studied Twenty client‐owned animals, including 10 dogs and 10 cats.

Shapley-Ames Galaxies in the Blue and Infrared [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2004
The Shapley-Ames Catalog of 1276 galaxies with B < 12.5 is compared with the Sanders et al. all sky sample of the 629 galaxies with 60 m flux density > 5.24 Jy. The fraction of Shapley-Ames galaxies that are visible in the IR is found to increase from 0.006 for E or E/S0 galaxies to 0.384 for Sc galaxies.

Spitzer IRAC infrared colours of submillimetre-bright galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
High-redshift submillimetre-bright galaxies identified by blank field surveys at millimetre and submillimetre wavelengths appear in the region of the Infra Red Array Camera (IRAC) colour–colour diagrams previously identified as the domain of luminous ...

The ATLAS(3D) project - XXV. Two-dimensional kinematic analysis of simulated galaxies and the cosmological origin of fast and slow rotators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a detailed two-dimensional stellar dynamical analysis of as ample of 44 cosmological hydrodynamical simulations of individual central galaxies with stellar masses of 2 x 1010Msun ∼≤ Mstar ∼≤ 6x 1011Msun.

Proton‐Radiation Hardening of High‐Speed Ge/Si Integrated Photodetectors for Space Applications

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 12, 25 June 2026.
Hydrogen loading is demonstrated as a radiation‐hardening strategy for high‐speed Ge/Si integrated photodetectors under broadband proton irradiation. By suppressing irradiation‐induced leakage‐current growth and mitigating bandwidth degradation, hydrogen‐loaded devices maintain high‐speed operation and improved stability, providing a practical route ...

Repeating Nuclear Transients From Repeating Partial Tidal Disruption Events

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, Volume 347, Issue 5, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Extragalactic nuclear transients that exhibit repeating outbursts can be modeled as the repeated dynamical interaction between bound stars and supermassive black holes (SMBHs). A subset of these transients, with recurrence timescales of months‐to‐years, have been explained as accretion flares from the repeated tidal stripping of a star by an ...
