HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

Quantitative Assessment of Upper Limb Ataxia Using a Virtual Reality‐Based Evaluation System

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Cerebellar ataxia impairs coordination and balance, reducing quality of life. Conventional clinical scales, including the Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) and the International Cooperative Ataxia Rating Scale (ICARS), are widely used to assess ataxia but are limited by subjectivity and inter‐rater variability ...

Fast reversible laser-induced crystallization of Sb-rich Zn-Sb-Se phase change material with excellent stability

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
We present a new reversible phase-change medium Sb-rich Zn-Sb-Se film, which possesses a large difference in both optical and electrical constant. The doped-ZnSb, sub-formed Zn-Se, and exhausted Sb-Se3/2 co-influence the physical properties.

Infrared Neural Stimulation Elicits Distinct Molecular Pathways in Astrocytes Based on Laser Pulse Parameters

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Infrared (IR) light evokes distinct calcium and water transport responses in astrocytes, depending on stimulation duration and protocol. This study uses widefield imaging and pharmacology to reveal differential engagement of astroglial signaling pathways.
