Er3+/Yb3+ Co-Doped Fluorotellurite Glass Fiber with Broadband Luminescence

open access: yesSensors
In order to address the ‘capacity crisis’ caused by the narrow bandwidth of the current C band and the demand for wide-spectrum sensing sources and tunable fiber lasers, a broadband luminescence covering the C + L bands using Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped ...

Testing the Hypothesis that Methanol Maser Rings Trace Circumstellar Disks: High Resolution Near-IR and Mid-IR Imaging

open access: yes, 2012
Milliarcsecond VLBI maps of regions containing 6.7 GHz methanol maser emission have lead to the recent discovery of ring-like distributions of maser spots and the plausible hypothesis that they may be tracing circumstellar disks around forming high mass ...

Exploring Microstructure–Physical Property–Corrosion Response Relationship in Intermetallic Compounds of Al‐Cu Bimetallic Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Al‐Cu intermetallic compounds (IMCs) have a significant influence on the properties of Al‐Cu bimetallic interfaces formed in compound casting. This article provides a deeper understanding of microstructure, crystallography, thermal properties, hardness, and corrosion response of Al‐Cu IMCs with the goal of facilitating the optimization of the ...

Ferroelectric-tuned van der Waals heterojunction with band alignment evolution

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
Band alignment engineering is important to realize high performance and multifunctionality in a specific van der Waals heterojunction. Here, the authors observe band alignment transition of the heterojunction in a ferroelectric-tuned van der Waals ...

Micropleated Nanofibrous Filters for High‐Efficiency Submicron Aerosol Filtration: A Comparative Study with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Gas Mask Filters

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents micropleated filters manufactured by needleless electrospinning. Nanofibers are deposited onto uniaxially pre‐stretched substrates that contract upon release, forming densely packed micropleats. This architecture increases effective surface area without enlarging the filter size, achieving quality factors comparable to those of ...

A Catalog of Luminous Infrared Galaxies in the IRAS Survey and the Second Data Release of the SDSS

open access: yes, 2005
We select the Luminous Infrared Galaxies by cross-correlating the Faint Source Catalogue (FSC) and Point Source Catalogue (PSC) of the IRAS Survey with the Second Data Release of the SDSS for studying their infrared and optical properties.

Experimental Analysis and Physics‐Based Analytical Model on Twisted and Coiled Artificial Muscles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Twisted and coiled artificial muscles made from silver‐coated nylon fibers are investigated through experiments and analytical modeling. The actuators achieve contractions up to 19.3% and specific work of 8 kJ kg−1, though efficiency remains limited (≈0.15%) by thermal losses.
