People counting using visible and infrared images

Neurocomputing, 2021
Abstract We propose the use of convolutional neural networks (CNN) for counting and positioning people given aerial shots of visible and infrared images. Our data set is entirely made of semi-artificial images created from real photographs taken from a drone using a dual FLIR camera.

Matching of infrared and visible images

2012 9th International Conference on Fuzzy Systems and Knowledge Discovery, 2012
A new matching method based on improved Nonsubsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) is put forward to solve the problem of low matching precision in matching of infrared and visible images. Firstly, improved NSCT is introduced; then, improved NSCT disassembly is done; next, energy at each little region is calculated to compose circumcircle.

Visible/Infrared Imaging on the Rise [In the Spotlight]

IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, 2013
The news media recently showed how infrared imagery aided the authorities in capturing the second Boston Marathon bomber suspect, now a significant tool in the public safety arsenal [1]. It also clearly illustrates the progress in infrared hardware technology since Desert Storm in 1991. The images shown were less grainy (noisy) and had more gray scales,

Conversion of Infrared Images to Visible in Color

Applied Optics, 1968
An ir line scan instrument has been developed that scans a scene simultaneously with three separate spectral regions and produces an image of the scene as a color photograph. The three spectral regions are 0.5-1.0 micro, 3.0-5.5 micro and 8.0-14.0 micro. The ir detectors used are Si, InSb, and Ge:Hg, respectively.
