The Brightest Light in Canada: The Canadian Light Source

open access: yesQuantum Beam Science, 2017
Over forty years in the making, and one of Canada’s largest scientific investments in those four decades, the Canadian Light Source (CLS), a third generation source of synchrotron light, was designed for high performance and flexibility and serves the ...

X-ray echoes of infrared flaring in Sgr A*

open access: yes, 2010
Sgr A* exhibits flaring in the infrared several times each day, occasionally accompanied by flaring in X-rays. The infrared flares are believed to arise through synchrotron emission from a transient population of accelerated electrons.

870 micron observations of nearby 3CRR radio galaxies

open access: yes, 2003
We present submillimeter continuum observations at 870 microns of the cores of low redshift 3CRR radio galaxies, observed at the Heinrich Hertz Submillimeter Telescope.

Unlocking Ultra‐Long Cycle Stability of Li Metal Electrode by Separators Modified by Porous Red Phosphorus Nanosheets

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Coating the standard polypropylene separator with a porous red phosphorous nanosheet greatly improves cycling performance in Li electrode cells. The phosphorus‐based surface chemistry deactivates electrolyte solvent decomposition and enhances the cleavage of F‐containing salt, resulting in an inorganic‐dominated electrolyte interphase (SEI) composition

The studies on dehydration reaction mechanism of irradiated solid acid - nanostructured sodium - bentonite clay

open access: yesФізика і хімія твердого тіла
Research findings can offer data and a theoretical framework for a quantitative examination of the bentonite dehydration mechanism. The reasons for changes in pore’ water under the influence of gamma rays in vacuum and in the presence of oxygen was ...

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.
