Joule‐Assisted Nanotherapeutic Urethral Stent (JANUS) for Spatiotemporal Theragenerative Treatment of Urethral Strictures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Joule‐assisted nanotherapeutic urethral stent harnesses a smart, biodegradable magnesium stent to orchestrate spatiotemporal theragenerative therapy for urethral strictures. Magnetically induced Joule heating enables on‐demand drug release and bacterial ablation, while simultaneously guiding urothelial regeneration.

Peering through the dust II: $XMM-Newton$ observations of two additional FIRST-2MASS red quasars

open access: yes, 2017
We obtained $XMM-Newton$ observations of two highly luminous dust-reddened quasars, F2M1113+1244 and F2M1656+3821, that appear to be in the early, transitional phase predicted by merger-driven models of quasar/galaxy co-evolution. These sources have been

Hydrogel‐Based Photothermal‐Catalytic Membrane for Efficient Cogeneration of Freshwater and Hydrogen in Membrane Distillation System

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents an overview of the PTC‐VMD system for water‐hydrogen co‐generation. a) Illustration of the hydrogel‐based PTC membrane and the co‐generation of water and hydrogen. b) Structure of the PTC‐VMD system and the functions of each component layer.

AX J1749.1-2733 and AX J1749.2-2725 - the close pair of X-ray pulsars behind the Galactic Center: an optical identification

open access: yes, 2010
Two faint X-ray pulsars, AX J1749.2-2725 and AX J1749.1-2733, located in the direction to the Galactic Center, were studied in detail using data of INTEGRAL, XMM-Newton and Chandra observatories in X-rays, the SOFI/NTT instrument in infrared and the ...

Fibrous Pb(II)‐Based Coordination Polymer Operable as a Photocatalyst and Electrocatalyst for High‐Rate, Selective CO2‐to‐Formate Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A coordination polymer [Pb(tadt)]n prepared by a microwave‐assisted solvothermal method selectively reduces CO2 into formate under visible light with a high apparent quantum yield of ≈25% at 400 nm. It can function as a pre‐catalyst, along with conductive Ketjen Black, to form an active PbCO3/Pb3(CO3)2(OH)2 mixture that exhibits a high Faradaic ...

The Brightest Light in Canada: The Canadian Light Source

open access: yesQuantum Beam Science, 2017
Over forty years in the making, and one of Canada’s largest scientific investments in those four decades, the Canadian Light Source (CLS), a third generation source of synchrotron light, was designed for high performance and flexibility and serves the ...

On the simultaneous generation of high energy emission and submillimeter/infrared radiation from active galactic nuclei

open access: yes, 2010
For active galactic nuclei (AGNs) we study the role of the mechanism of quasi-linear diffusion (QLD) in producing the high energy emission in the MeV-GeV domains strongly connected with the submillimeter/infrared radiation.

In Situ Formation of a Melt‐Solid Interface Toward Stable Oxygen Reduction in Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 12, March 18, 2025.
Protonic ceramic fuel cells offer a promising route to generate power efficiently but face critical challenges in achieving industrially viable activity and stability at their cathodes in CO2‐containing air. This report proposes a new cathode material design strategy to enable the cathode to be both catalytically active and CO2 tolerant through the ...
