Infrared Thermography in Otolaryngology

Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 1967
The infrared emission patterns from the body can be registered and analysed by infrared thermography. This method, which has recently been introduced for medical purposes, has proven of value in cases of inflammation, peripheral vascular disease and to some extent in superficial tumours.

Airborne infrared thermography

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
To explore the feasibility of utilizing an IR imaging system to support flow visualization studies, an initial series of tests were conducted using an AN/AAS-38, NITE Hawk targeting pod. The targeting pod, installed on the left side of an F/A-18 aircraft provides a stabilized infrared imaging capability in the 8-12 micron spectral band.

Infrared Thermography for Land Mine Detection

2009
This chapter introduces the application of infrared (IR) thermography in land mine detection. IR thermography in general and for remotely detecting buried land mines in particular, seems to be a promising diagnostic tool. Due to the difference in thermophysical properties of mines and the soil (mines retain or release heat at a rate different from the ...

Neonatal Infrared Thermography Monitoring

2012
For critically ill preterm infants, there is a clinical need for contact-free monitoring technologies, which would eliminate discomfort and potential harm (e.g., necrosis) due to adhesive electrodes, temperature and saturation sensors. Hence, this chapter focuses on non-contact physiological monitoring of infants based on infrared (IR) thermography ...

Infrared Thermography and Hyperthermia

1984
The treatment of cancer by hyperthermia requires careful control of the temperature within the tumor as well as in overlying healthy tissues. For hyperthermia to be effective clinically it is necessary to maintain the tumor at a higher temperature than normal tissues.1 Tumor cell kill and normal tissue tolerance are dependent critically upon ...

Infrared Thermography in Swimming

2017
In order to verify whether there is a considerable increase in body skin temperature during different swimming techniques (crawl and backstroke) and identifying the most affected regions. The athlete's thermal symmetry was also analyzed, as well as its modification after the swimming, according to the performed technique.
