Scalable Fabrication of Height‐Variable Microstructures with a Revised Wetting Model

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Height‐variable microstructures are fabricated using a scalable CO2 laser machining approach, enabling precise control of wettability through structural gradients. Classical wetting models fail to capture height‐induced effects, necessitating a revised theoretical framework.

Quantum Algorithms for One-Dimensional Infrastructures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
Infrastructures are group-like objects that make their appearance in arithmetic geometry in the study of computational problems related to number fields and function fields over finite fields. The most prominent computational tasks of infrastructures are the computation of the circumference of the infrastructure and the generalized discrete logarithms.

Active Hydrogen for Electrochemical Ammonia Synthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides a comprehensive overview of the active hydrogen (H*) for electrochemical ammonia synthesis with particular attention given to the regulation of H* generation and consumption to suppress the competition of hydrogen evolution reaction and enhance the yield, selectivity, and Faradaic efficiency of ammonia.

Survey and Analysis of Production Distributed Computing Infrastructures [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
This report has two objectives. First, we describe a set of the production distributed infrastructures currently available, so that the reader has a basic understanding of them. This includes explaining why each infrastructure was created and made available and how it has succeeded and failed.

Direct Ink Writing of Conductive Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines the use of direct ink writing (DIW) for fabricating conductive hydrogels with customizable 3D structures. It outlines the rheological requirements for successful DIW, followed by an exploration of the materials and ink formulations used to impart electronic and/or ionic conductivity to hydrogels while maintaining printability ...

Contract-Theoretic Resource Allocation for Critical Infrastructure Protection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Critical infrastructure protection (CIP) is envisioned to be one of the most challenging security problems in the coming decade. One key challenge in CIP is the ability to allocate resources, either personnel or cyber, to critical infrastructures with different vulnerability and criticality levels.

Extracorporeal Catalytic Hemoperfusion Therapy for Refractory Septic Shock Using Ceria Nanoparticle‐Embedded Porous Microbeads

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an extracorporeal hemoperfusion system incorporating porous microbeads embedded with autocatalytic ceria nanoparticles (CeNPs) for targeted reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging in septic shock. The blood‐compatible hemoperfusion cartridge demonstrated significant improvements in survival, hemodynamic stability, and organ ...

An Experimental and Numerical Parametric Study on a Novel T-Shaped Steel–Concrete Composite Shear Wall

open access: yesBuildings
In this paper, a novel T-shaped steel–concrete composite shear wall (TSCCW) is proposed. Low-cycle reciprocating tests were carried out on the TSCCW to investigate its performance in terms of its damage characteristics, hysteretic properties, energy ...
