Development of an Implantable Intrathecal Drug Infusion Pump

The 26th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2005
An intrathecal drug infusion system has been designed, manufactured and tested. The system is composed of a drug reservoir and a pump/controller assembly. The drug reservoir made of SUS316L is a negative pressure gas chamber enclosing a bellows type drug chamber.

Complications Associated with Infusion Pumps Implanted for Spasticity

Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, 1995
Implanted infusion pumps are an effective method for delivering medications into the intrathecal space to reduce spasticity. Complications can occur with the surgical aspect of implantation, as well as with the hardware. We describe an 8-year experience with the implantation of 34 infusion pumps in 30 patients in whom either morphine or baclofen was ...

MR imaging of patients with implanted drug infusion pumps

Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, 1991
AbstractThe influence of magnetic resonance (MR) imaging on the integrity and function of an implantable, programmable drug infusion pump and the distortion of the image by this device were tested. Six identical pumps were tested in magnetic fields of 1.5 T. Pump memory was not affected by the procedure.
