Intravenous Infusion of Umbilical Cord Blood‐Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells in Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Phase Ia Clinical Trial

open access: yesStem Cells Translational Medicine, 2018
Based on immunomodulatory actions of human umbilical cord blood‐derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB‐MSCs), in vitro or preclinical studies of hUCB‐MSCs have been conducted extensively in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Cerebrospinal Fluid Liquid Biopsy Enables Targeted Therapy Without Tissue Diagnosis in Pediatric Low‐Grade Gliomas With BRAF V600E Mutation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present two pediatric cases of pediatric low‐grade gliomas (PLGG) with BRAF V600E mutations diagnosed and monitored using cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) liquid biopsy analyzed via digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), without tissue biopsy. Both patients were treated with dabrafenib and trametinib and monitored through clinical assessments, magnetic ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Damage control resuscitation [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Emergency Medicine, 2020
The United States Navy originally utilized the concept of damage control to describe the process of prioritizing the critical repairs needed to return a ship safely to shore during a maritime emergency. To pursue a completed repair would detract from the

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.

Hypersensitivity reactions to intravenous iron: guidance for risk minimization and management

open access: yesHaematologica, 2014
Intravenous iron is widely used for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia when oral iron is inappropriate, ineffective or poorly tolerated. Acute hypersensitivity reactions during iron infusions are very rare but can be life-threatening.
