Label‐Free Dual‐Modal Photoacoustic/Ultrasound Localization Imaging for Studying Acute Kidney Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work develops a 3D label‐free photoacoustic/super‐resolution ultrasound imaging system as a comprehensive non‐invasive tool for acute kidney injury (AKI) study. This technique visualizes the intricate structure of renal microvessels and provides critical physiological insights, including renal hemodynamics and oxygenation.

A mechanistic model for smallpox transmission via inhaled aerosols inside respiratory pathways [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Investigations on airborne transmission of pathogens constitute a rapidly expanding field, primarily focused on understanding the expulsion patterns of respiratory particulates from infected hosts and their dispersion in confined spaces. Largely overlooked has been the crucial role of fluid dynamics in guiding inhaled virus-laden particulates within ...

Surface Engineering Enabled Capacitive Gas‐Phase Water Molecule Sensors in Carbon Nanodots

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A surface engineering strategy is developed to tune the molecular affinity of carbon nanodots (CDs), leading to capacitive sensors with an impressive detection range from 11% to 98% relative humidity (RH). These sensors demonstrate high sensitivity, with 3.3 × 105 pF/RH, and an exceptional response of 1.8 × 108 % at 98% RH.

Microfluidic Bioelectrical Impedance Drug Delivery Device for Patients with Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Inhalers with corticosteroids and muscle relaxants are prescribed by pulmonologists to mitigate bronchospasms that happen due to tightening of the chest. An adhesive patch attached to a patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease can relieve episodes of bronchospasms in the event the prescribed inhaler is not nearby.

Inhibiting the Histone Demethylase Kdm4a Restrains Cardiac Fibrosis After Myocardial Infarction by Promoting Autophagy in Premature Senescent Fibroblasts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Kdm4a downregulation restrains excessive cardiac interstitial fibrosis and remodeling by depressing the premature senescence of fibroblasts in the advanced stage after MI but does not affect early ventricular rupture. It verified that Kdm4a downregulation promotes autophagy in premature senescent fibroblasts by increasing the H3K9m3 modification of the

Safeguarding Smart Inhaler Devices and Patient Privacy in Respiratory Health Monitoring [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The rapid development of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has significantly impacted various market sectors. According to Li et al. (2024), an estimated 75 billion devices will be on the market in 2025. The healthcare industry is a target to improve patient care and ease healthcare provider burdens.

MMP9High Neutrophils are Critical Mediators of Neutrophil Extracellular Traps Formation and Myocardial Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
During a heart attack, neutrophils rapidly activate and differentiate into a specific subset characterized by high levels of MMP9, a tissue‐damaging enzyme, via the SPI1/CST7 pathway. These neutrophils form harmful net‐like structures (Neutrophil extracellular traps, NETs) that exacerbate heart injury.

A Deep Learning-Driven Inhalation Injury Grading Assistant Using Bronchoscopy Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Inhalation injuries present a challenge in clinical diagnosis and grading due to Conventional grading methods such as the Abbreviated Injury Score (AIS) being subjective and lacking robust correlation with clinical parameters like mechanical ventilation duration and patient mortality.
