Estimation of inherent optical properties from CZMIL lidar
SPIE Proceedings, 2014Bathymetric lidar has been widely used for ocean floor mapping. By identifying two distinctive return peaks, one from the water surface and the other from the bottom, the water depth can be estimated. In addition to bathymetry, it is also possible to estimate the optical properties of the water by analyzing the lidar return waveform.

Studies on some of the inherent optical properties of natural waters [Invited]
Applied Optics, 2013The author's experimental activities in ocean optics that are related to the inherent optical properties of natural waters are discussed. The specific subjects discussed are (1) measurements of Mueller matrices for several ocean water regions; (2) measurements of the spectral absorption of pure water throughout the visible spectrum; (3) the development

Characterization and Modeling of Inherent Optical Properties in the Gulf of Maine
2001Abstract : Our long term goal is to contribute to a fundamental understanding of the sources of biological, physical, and optical variability in coastal ocean systems. Particular focus is on applications useful for studying important ecological processes and the links between phytoplankton properties and physical processes in coastal regions.

An Integrated Inherent Optical Property Sensor for AUVs
2007Abstract : Several automated, compact sampling platforms have recently been developed or are gaining widespread use in Naval operations and oceanographic research for mapping environmental parameters in multiple dimensions. In addition to limited sensor payloads, many of these platforms are intended for extended deployments.

Inherent and apparent optical properties of Lake Peipsi, Estonia
2004Lake Peipsi on the border of Estonia and Russia is a large, shallow, biologically very productive lake. It is bordered by many wetland areas. On the basis of underwater radiation measurements and analyses of water samples we have shown that the optical properties of L.

Inherent optical properties of the central Arctic surface waters
Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2002Measurements of the inherent optical properties were collected during the summer of 1998 above the Chukchi Plateau. These measurements show that attenuation by particles is sometimes very low, but absorption by colored dissolved organic materials (CDOM) is generally high, so the waters of the study site should not be considered to be among the clearest
