Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Ortho-substituted phenyl-N-butyl carbamates (1-9) are characterized as "pseudo-pseudo-substrate" inhibitors of acetylcholinesterase. Since the inhibitors protonate at pH 7.0 buffer solution, the virtual inhibition constants (K-i's) of the ...

How feedback inhibition shapes spike-timing-dependent plasticity and its implications for recent Schizophrenia models [PDF]
It has been shown that plasticity is not a fixed property but, in fact, changes depending on the location of the synapse on the neuron and/or changes of biophysical parameters.

Inhibition Of Bovine Kidney Low Molecular Mass Phosphotyrosine Protein Phosphatase By Uric Acid.
Uric acid inhibited 50% of the activity of bovine kidney low molecular mass phosphotyrosine protein phosphatase at concentrations of 1.0, 0.4, 1.3, and 0.2 mM, respectively for p-nitrophenyl phosphate (p-NPP), flavine mononucleotide, beta-naphthyl ...

This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

The Effect of New Inhibitors on Malolactic Fermentation of Wines
This study deals with the influence of various oenological preparations on malolactic fermentation. The influence of chitosan, fumaric acid, a tannin-based (Estaan) oenological preparation and medium-chain fatty acids (MCFAs) was investigated, along with

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Inhibition Of Poly(2′fluoro-2′deoxyadenylic Acid)-directed-reverse Transcriptase Actmty
Some intercalating and nonintercalating drugs have been tested as inhibitorrs on the DNA synthesis reaction catalyzed by avian myeloblastosis virus (AMV) reverse transcriptase, in the presence of poly-riboadenylic acid (poly(rA)) and poly(2′Huoro-2 ...
