AbstractIt is proved that if K is a convex body in euclidean n-space with volume V(K), and f(x) is the distance function of K, and t > 0 is such that V(tK) = 2n−1, then given any real number a, there exists an integral point x for which either (i) f(x + a) ⩾ t, or (ii) f(x) ⩾ t and x 0.
