Note on the product of n inhomogeneous linear forms

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 1972
AbstractIt is proved that if K is a convex body in euclidean n-space with volume V(K), and f(x) is the distance function of K, and t > 0 is such that V(tK) = 2n−1, then given any real number a, there exists an integral point x for which either (i) f(x + a) ⩾ t, or (ii) f(x) ⩾ t and x 0. Several conclusions are drawn. For example, if Li(x), i = 1, 2, 3

Inhomogeneous approximation for systems of linear forms with primitivity constraints

open access: yesMathematische Zeitschrift
We study (inhomogeneous) approximation for systems of linear forms using integer points which satisfy additional primitivity constraints. The first family of primitivity constraints we consider were introduced in 2015 by Dani, Laurent, and Nogueira, and are associated to partitions of the coordinate directions.

On the density at integer points of a system comprising an inhomogeneous quadratic form and a linear form [PDF]

open access: yesMathematische Zeitschrift, 2021
We prove an analogue of the Oppenheim conjecture for a system comprising an inhomogeneous quadratic form and a linear form in $3$ variables using dynamics on the space of affine lattices.

Tropical cyclone rapid intensification and the excitation of inertia-gravity waves on the edges of an evolving potential vorticity structure

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
The problem of tropical cyclone rapid intensification is reduced to a potential vorticity (PV) equation and a second order, inhomogeneous, partial differential equation for the azimuthal wind.

Investigation of Fractal Carbon Nanotube Networks for Biophilic Neural Sensing Applications

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2021
We propose a carbon-nanotube-based neural sensor designed to exploit the electrical sensitivity of an inhomogeneous fractal network of conducting channels.

Exact solution of the Couette–Poiseuille type for steady concentration flows

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2022
This article presents a new exact solution for predicting the properties of the velocity field, pressure, and impurity distribution in steady shear flows of viscous incompressible fluids in an extended horizontal layer.

Experimental implementation of laser cooling of trapped ions in strongly inhomogeneous magnetic fields

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2023
We demonstrate the Doppler laser cooling of ^{40}Ca^{+} ions confined in a segmented linear Paul trap in the presence of a strong quadrupolar magnetic field generated by two permanent ring magnets.

Technology of Protection and Control of Printed Products Using Application Programs of Digital Introscopy

open access: yesТехнологія і техніка друкарства, 2022
The article presents the basics of the method of correlation spatial-frequency filtering of maps of phase distributions of polyethylene films. Using the method of statistical analysis of the structure of spatial-frequency filtered polarization maps of ...
