Convergence Properties of Machenhauer's Initialization Scheme
Monthly Weather Review, 1983Abstract The convergence properties of Machenhauer’s nonlinar normal-mode initialization scheme are explored. Only adiabatic initialization is considered. Several models are used, including an f-plane model. a numerical weather prediction model, and simple linear models with analytic solutions.

Properties of Resilient Organizations: An Initial View
2017This chapter shows that how a product of work performed to develop leading indicators of organizational performance can be adapted to reflect the kinds of issues of interest in the development of resilience engineering. The concepts of resilience and the anticipated tools for resilience engineering are intended to address these weaknesses head on. Thus,

Experiments on the Initiation and Coherence Properties of Superfluorescence
1979In the first experiment on superfluorescence (SF) SKRIBANOWITZ et al [1] observed ringing. This ringing was ascribed to axial variations of the atom and field variables, the evolution of which was calculated with the semiclassical Maxwell-Bloch equations [2].

Polypyrrole Actuators: Properties and Initial Applications
2007Polypyrrole actuators are low-voltage (1–3 V), moderate to large strain (2–35%), and relatively high stress (up to 34 MPa) actuator materials. Strain rates are moderate to low, reaching 11%/s, and frequency response can reach several hertz. Faster response (> 1 kHz) is anticipated in nanostructured materials. Forces can be maintained with minimal power
