Abstract This study uses longitudinal data from the UK Millennium Cohort Study (N = 13,277) to examine the childhood and early adolescence factors that predict weapon involvement in middle adolescence, which in this study is exemplified by having carried or used a weapon.

Semi‐supervised classification of fundus images combined with CNN and GCN
Abstract Purpose Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is one of the most serious complications of diabetes, which is a kind of fundus lesion with specific changes. Early diagnosis of DR can effectively reduce the visual damage caused by DR. Due to the variety and different morphology of DR lesions, automatic classification of fundus images in mass screening can ...

Abstract Background and purpose For postoperative breast cancer patients, deformable image registration (DIR) is challenged due to the large deformations and non‐correspondence caused by tumor resection and clip insertion. To deal with it, three metrics (fiducial‐, region‐, and intensity‐based) were jointly used in DIR algorithm for improved accuracy ...

Digital radiography image quality evaluation using various phantoms and software
Abstract Purpose To investigate the effect of the exposure parameters on image quality (IQ) metrics of phantom images, obtained automatically using software or from visual evaluation. Methods Three commercial phantoms and a homemade phantom constructed according to the instructions given in the IAEA Human Health Series No.

Abstract This study aims to investigate the effects of the position correction of size‐specific dose estimates (SSDE) on patient dose estimation in cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). The relationship between the phantom position and absorbed dose in the right breast was studied using optically stimulated luminescence dosimeters and a simulated human

The initial value problem as it relates to numerical relativity [PDF]
Spacetime is foliated by spatial hypersurfaces in the 3+1 split of general relativity. The initial value problem then consists of specifying initial data for all fields on one such a spatial hypersurface, such that the subsequent evolution forward in ...

Initial value problem in string-inspired nonlocal field theory
We consider a nonlocal scalar field theory inspired by the tachyon action in open string field theory. The Lorentz-covariant action is characterized by a parameter ξ 2 that quantifies the amount of nonlocality.

On Reusing the Stages of a Rejected Runge-Kutta Step
Runge-Kutta (RK) pairs are amongst the most popular methods for numerically solving Initial Value Problems. While using an RK pair, we may experience rejection of some steps through the interval of integration.

An initial value problem arising in mechanics [PDF]
We study initial value problem for a system consisting of an integer order and distributed-order fractional differential equation describing forced oscillations of a body attached to a free end of a light viscoelastic rod. Explicit form of a solution for a class of linear viscoelastic solids is given in terms of a convolution integral.
