Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Robust Initialization of Rigorous Process Simulations of Multiple Dividing Wall Columns via Vmin Diagrams

open access: yesChemEngineering, 2018
Dividing Wall Columns (DWCs) allow the separation of a ternary mixture in one column shell by applying a vertical partition wall, yielding a reduction of operational and capital costs of up to 30%.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

A Projected Alternating Least square Approach for Computation of Nonnegative Matrix Factorization [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sciences, Islamic Republic of Iran, 2015
Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) is a common method in data mining that have been used in different applications as a dimension reduction, classification or clustering method. Methods in alternating least square (ALS) approach usually used to solve

Optimization-Based, Simplified Stereo Visual-Inertial Odometry With High-Accuracy Initialization

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper proposes a robust and highly efficient feature-based visual-inertial odometry (VIO) approach. In order to save the computational resource, a simplified stereo visual model is applied to reduce the dimension of visual measurements.

Cooperative Relative Localization Using Range Measurements Without a Priori Information

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The ability for autonomous vehicles to cooperatively navigate, especially in GPS denied environments, is becoming increasingly important. It also requires the ability to initialize, or reinitialize estimation algorithms for cooperative systems on-the-fly

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...
