Changes in Body Temperature and Sleep-Wakefulness After Intrapreoptic Injection of Methoxamine in Rats

open access: yesNeural Plasticity, 2003
Several pieces of evidence suggest that the noradrenergic afferents in the medial preoptic area produce sleep and hypothermia by acting on α1 adrenergic receptors.

Targeting the EpCAM‐AXL axis to overcome drug resistance in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Lung cancer cells often evade therapy by hijacking signaling pathways. We reveal that cleaved EpCAM (sEpCAM) stabilizes the oncogenic protein AXL, driving NF‐κB and STAT3‐mediated chemoresistance. This EpCAM‐AXL axis identifies a high‐risk patient subset with poor prognosis.

An Experimental Study of the Characteristics of Oxidation Displacement via Air Injection in a Deep, Medium–High-Pressure Reservoir

open access: yesApplied Sciences
A high-temperature and high-pressure experimental device was upgraded to accommodate a maximum pressure of 40 MPa and a maximum temperature of 800 °C. Using this experimental device, one-dimensional oxidation displacement experiments were carried out via

Engineering IL‐4 resistant proinflammatory human myeloid cells for cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a scalable workflow to generate proinflammatory human myeloid cells. CRISPR/Cas9‐edited CD34+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells were expanded and differentiated with M‐CSF. Deletion of STAT6 or STAT6/NFKB1 enhanced macrophage proinflammatory gene expression and cytokine secretion in the presence of IL‐4 while maintaining antibody ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Numerical Investigation on the Characteristics of Vapor Injection of Scroll Compressor for Electric Vehicle

open access: yesZhileng xuebao
To investigate the vapor injection performance of a scroll compressor with a short profile, a three-dimensional transient numerical model of a vapor-injection scroll compressor for an electric vehicle with a displacement of 38 cm3/r is established and ...

Dynamic fluid flow characteristics in the hydrogen-fuelled scramjet combustor with transverse fuel injection

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2019
The standard k- ε turbulence model, two dimensional NavierStokes equations along with eddy-dissipation/finite-rate reaction model has been applied to analyze the flow dynamics of the scramjet combustor with the cold-flow and ignited engine conditions. In

Directed evolution of enzymes at the crossroads of tradition and innovation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An iterative cycle of data‐driven enzyme optimization comprising four stages: genetic diversification of a template enzyme, expression of protein variants, high‐throughput evaluation, and machine‐learning‐guided redesign of the next variant library.

Treatment with KCL‐286, a first‐in‐class retinoic acid receptor‐β (RARβ) agonist, ameliorates neuronal DNA damage and inflammation in a mouse model of Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Repair of neuronal DNA damage in Alzheimer's disease by KCL‐286. (A) Amyloid‐β oligomers and plaques impair neuronal DNA repair pathways, leading to DNA double‐strand breaks and glial activation. (B) KCL‐286 activates RARβ/RXR signalling via retinoic acid response elements (RAREs), associated with increased BRCA1 expression, enhanced DNA repair and ...

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral
