Influence of injection molding process conditions on the mechanical properties of CF-PPS/PTFE composites

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
Carbon Fiber-reinforced Polyphenylene Sulfide (CF-PPS) exhibits mechanical properties similar to aluminum with significantly lower density, making it an interesting alternative in automotive and aerospace applications. However, achieving these mechanical

TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 attenuates pulmonary fibroblast activation by suppressing mTOR and restoring autophagic flux

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TGF‐β1 stimulation downregulates lysosomal channel TRPML1 in pulmonary fibroblasts. The TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 suppressed fibroblast‐to‐myofibroblast activation and collagen production. Mechanistically, ML‐SA5 inhibited mTOR phosphorylation, restored autophagic flux, and its effects were enhanced by rapamycin (mTOR inhibitor) and reversed by MHY1485 ...

Unraveling 4‐Phenylbutyrate's Therapeutic Role in SLC6A1 Disorders: Pharmacochaperoning Over HDAC Inhibition

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Variants in SLC6A1, encoding the GABA transporter 1 (GAT‐1), cause epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder, and developmental delay via loss of GABA uptake, impaired trafficking, and ER retention. We previously found that 4‐Phenylbutyrate (PBA), an FDA‐approved drug, restores GABA uptake and reduces seizures in SLC6A1‐related disorders ...

Effect of Vapor-injection Mass on System Performance of Air-source Heat Pump with Enhanced Vapor Injection

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2019
Air-source heat pumps suffer from many problems such as high pressure ratio, high discharge temperature, and poor performance at low temperature. The enhanced vapor injection (EVI) technology can improve the performance of an air-source heat pump at low ...

Is an Apple an Orange? A Large Language Model Benchmark for Candidate Term Extraction and Subclass Decisions Against Upper Ontologies in Engineering and Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Building machine‐readable vocabularies for materials science is slow, expert‐driven work. This study benchmarks 13 large language models on two of its first steps: finding candidate terms in engineering articles and deciding where they belong in a class hierarchy.

Spin Injection into Graphene at Room Temperature

open access: yesHyomen Kagaku, 2008
We demonstrated spin injection into a graphene thin film at room temperature. The thickness of the graphene thin film was typically 8−16 nm. In addition to a conventional 2-terminal “local” measurement scheme, a 4-terminal “non-local” measurement was introduced for excluding spurious signals and providing reliable results. In the non-local measurement,

Influence of CO2 injection timing on enhanced coalbed methane recovery using thermo-hydro-mechanical coupled model

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
Delayed CO2 injection can prevent premature CO2 breakthrough to production wells during CO2 enhanced coalbed methane (CO2-ECBM) recovery. Currently, the influence of CO2 injection timing on CO2-ECBM recovery is unclear.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
