Evaluation of brain injury criteria based on reliability analysis
Purpose: Among the proposed brain injury metrics, Brain Injury Criteria (BrIC) is a promising tool for performing safety assessment of vehicles in the future. In this paper, the available risk curves of BrIC were re-evaluated with the use of reliability analysis and new risk curves were constructed for different injury types based on literature data of

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Dummy and Injury Criteria for Aircraft Crashworthiness [PDF]
<div class="htmlview paragraph">Since 1988, newly type certificated aircraft are required to comply with stringent crashworthiness requirements. Central to these more stringent requirements is a dynamic test that assesses the potential for injury for someone exposed to similar conditions. In this paper the techniques and reference values used for

Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Prognostic robustness of serum creatinine based AKI definitions in patients with sepsis: a prospective cohort study [PDF]
Background: It is unclear how modifications in the way to calculate serum creatinine (sCr) increase and in the cut-off value applied, influences the prognostic value of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI).

Overview of molecular signatures of senescence and associated resources: pros and cons
Cells can enter a stress response state termed cellular senescence that is involved in various diseases and aging. Detecting these cells is challenging due to the lack of universal biomarkers. This review presents the current state of senescence identification, from biomarkers to molecular signatures, compares tools and approaches, and highlights ...
