Bayesian spatial prediction of soil organic carbon stocks in eastern DRC using INLA-SPDE and environmental covariates

open access: yesEnvironmental Challenges
Soil organic carbon (SOC) plays a critical role in climate mitigation and agricultural sustainability, yet its spatial distribution in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) remains poorly quantified.

Modeling multivariate positive‐valued time series using R‐INLA

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry
AbstractIn this article, we describe fast Bayesian statistical analysis of vector positive‐valued time series, with application to interesting financial data streams. We discuss a flexible level correlated model (LCM) framework for building hierarchical models for vector positive‐valued time series.

Spatial modelling with R-INLA: A review

open access: yes, 2018
Coming up with Bayesian models for spatial data is easy, but performing inference with them can be challenging. Writing fast inference code for a complex spatial model with realistically-sized datasets from scratch is time-consuming, and if changes are made to the model, there is little guarantee that the code performs well.

A Gentle Stan vs. INLA Comparison

open access: yes, 2018
Not long ago, I came across a nice blogpost by Kahtryn Morrison called A gentle INLA tutorial. The blog was nice and helped me better appreciate INLA. But as a fan of the Stan probabilistic language, I felt that comparing INLA to JAGS is not really that relevant, as Stan should - at least in theory - be way faster and better than JAGS.

Mapping and understanding the regional farmland SOC distribution in southern China using a Bayesian spatial model

open access: yesGeoderma
Information on the spatial distribution of soil organic carbon (SOC) in regional farmland is crucial for improving management and production. Mapping SOC in farmlands is challenging due to the strong variation of SOC caused by the influence of natural ...

Phase II trial of dual anti-CTLA-4 and anti-PD-1 blockade in rare tumors SWOG/NCI experience: invasive mucinous or non-mucinous lepidic adenocarcinoma of the lung (formerly bronchioloalveolar carcinoma)

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Medical Oncology
Background: Anti-programmed death-1 (PD-1)/cytotoxic T lymphocyte antigen-4 antibodies are efficacious in various malignancies. Objectives: This study presents the first results of ipilimumab–nivolumab in invasive mucinous or non-mucinous lepidic ...
