Satellite Mapping of the Moulin Distribution Across the Entire Greenland Ice Sheet

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 15, 16 August 2026.
Abstract Moulins drain meltwater from the surface of the Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS), affecting subglacial hydrology. However, the moulin distribution across the entire GrIS remains unclear. Using 10‐m Sentinel‐2 imagery from the summer of 2019, we manually mapped GrIS‐wide major moulins, excluding undetectable minor moulins.

Effects of Commercial and Locally Formulated Diets on Growth Performance of Juvenile Oreochromis andersonii in a Hatchery System

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT In Namibia, the aquaculture sector faces significant challenges, mainly due to the high cost of imported commercial feed, which limits small‐scale farmers' productivity and food security. To address this, locally formulated feeds must be evaluated as sustainable alternatives.

Home Range and Habitat Selection of the Endangered Red Goshawk (Erythrotriorchis radiatus) Across Australia's Tropical Savannas

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We used long‐term GPS tracking to quantify home‐range size and habitat selection of the endangered Red Goshawk across tropical savannas of northern Australia. Red Goshawks occupied extensive overall home ranges, with well‐defined core ranges centred on nest sites.

Managing for resilience with ecological structure: Portfolio effects in the Laurentian Great Lakes

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, Volume 24, Issue 6, August 2026.
Combined effects of global change, including land conversion, biological invasions, and overexploitation, have degraded the resilience of ecosystems and the services they provide. Here, we identify key ecological structures and processes that can be targeted by management to improve resilience at scales ranging from single species to entire landscapes.

Investigating the Impact of Virtual Reality Panoramas on Children's Water Safety Knowledge and Interest and Enjoyment

open access: yesJournal of Computer Assisted Learning, Volume 42, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Unintentional drowning is a leading cause of injury and death among children worldwide, and inadequate water safety education is a significant contributing factor. Innovative technologies such as virtual reality [VR] have the potential to teach children about safety and reduce the risk of accidental injury.

Taxonomic reappraisal of the mangrove genus Avicennia (Acanthaceae) in India

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 8, August 2026.
A taxonomic reappraisal of the mangrove genus Avicennia in India was undertaken through extensive field surveys and critical examination of herbarium specimens. Three taxa, Avicennia alba, Avicennia marina subsp. marina, and Avicennia officinalis, are described in detail. A synonymic list was compiled using the World Checklist of Vascular Plants (WCVP)

Phylogenetics of Clusia sect. Criuva (Clusiaceae) unveils a new species, reinstates an old name and clarifies sectional circumscription

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Clusia sect. Criuva has long been a taxonomic catch‐all, particularly in the final decades of the 20th century, when misapplications conflated eastern Brazilian taxa with species from the Guiana Shield. We combine herbarium‐based genome skimming, targeted fieldwork, and critical examination of historical literature and types to reassess ...
