CS28: Inner and Outer Race Defect Detection and Monitoring

open access: yes, 2021
Case StudiesAccelerometers were used to measure vibration of the input shaftusing an on-line remote monitoring system Though the vibrationamplitudes were below the acceptable limit for over a year period, two bearing damages were thought to have occurred ...

Two Routes to Land: Genomic Underpinnings of Parallel Aerial Egg Deposition in Aquatic Old‐World Pila and New‐World Pomacea (Ampullariidae)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Comparative genomics of Gondwana‐diverged Pila and Pomacea reveals parallel evolution of aerial oviposition. Convergent chromosomal rearrangements reshape regulatory landscapes within topologically associating domains. Lineage‐specific gene family expansions and viral‐derived perivitelline proteins (PV1) underpin desiccation resistance.

Estimating forest surface fuel loads along the China–Mongolia border using a multi-source remote sensing model optimized by active learning

open access: yesScience of Remote Sensing
Forest surface fuels are a key factor influencing fire behavior, and their spatial heterogeneity is strongly affected by forest type, climate, and topography.

Large‐Scale Genomics Reveals Three‐Source Ancestry and Layered Adaptation to High Altitude in Tibetan Chickens

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Whole‐genome analysis of 1,054 chickens reveals three ancestral sources (NWC, SYA, and SHF) with distinct temporal entry patterns into the Tibetan Plateau. Route‐specific selection scans, calibrated against a demographic null, suggest complementary functional enrichments—vascular homeostasis (NWC), calcium signaling and cardiac adaptation (SYA), and ...

Introgressed Variation in TaMYB7‐A1 Drives Graded Dormancy and Climate‐Adaptive Pre‐Harvest Sprouting Resistance in Wheat

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
TaMYB7‐A1 directly activates TaABI5 to enhance ABA signaling and regulate ABA‐GA homeostasis, enforcing seed dormancy. Its superior allele, derived from wild einkorn introgression, harbors a MITE insertion that elevates expression and two amino acid substitutions that enhance transcriptional activity, collectively generating graded PHS resistance for ...

Extra Climate Benefits From Afforestation Due to Reduced Forest Fragmentation in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Afforestation in China reduced forest fragmentation in 2015, transforming 51.8 M ha of edge forests into interior forests. This enhanced carbon sequestration (1.4±0.2 Pg CO2e, a cooling biogeochemical effect), while reduced albedo (−0.9 Pg CO2e, a warming biophysical effect) partially offset the gain, yielding a net extra climate benefit of ...

CHCHD10 Mitigates Alzheimer's Disease‐Related Phenotypes in Association With Epigenetic Remodeling in Directly Reprogrammed Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CHCHD10 loss in Alzheimer's disease is associated with mitochondrial dysfunction, epigenomic disruption, and tau pathology. Restoration of CHCHD10 shifts DNA methylation toward a non‐disease state and reduces tau and amyloid pathology, with KATNAL2 acting as a downstream effector.

Distribution patterns of the Baraba buzzing grasshopper Angaracris barabensis (Pallas) (Orthoptera: Acrididae)

open access: yesЮг России: экология, развитие
Aim. Angaracris barabensis is widely distributed across the Asian grasslands. It is often qualified as one of the important pests. The aim of the paper is to estimate possible shifts of its distribution relative to global warming.

The Components of the Glacial Runoff of the Tsambagarav Massif from Stable Water Isotope Data

open access: yesGeosciences, 2019
The aim of this study was to determine the contribution of snow and glacial ice to the river fluxes, and to identify the type of ice formation in the Tsambagarav massif (the northwestern part of Mongolia).
