Mitochondrial respiratory capacities are not linked to individual variation in hypoxia tolerance and standard metabolic rate in European seabass Dicentrarchus labrax

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract In hypoxic environments, fish attempt to regulate their metabolic rate as oxygen levels in the water decline. Individuals that have low energy requirements for maintenance – standard metabolic rate (SMR) – are expected to have higher hypoxia tolerance, measured as the critical water oxygen saturation threshold (Scrit) below which they cannot ...

Processing of Verbal Data and Knowledge Representation by GABEK®-WinRelan®

open access: yesForum: Qualitative Social Research, 2002
Diffuse as well as specific information is not solely found in organizations, but it also sprawls all over the Internet. In our article we will show how scattered linguistic knowledge can be selected, processed and structured with the aid of the software

The tympanic covering layer contributes to basilar membrane elasticity potentially influencing human frequency resolution and speech perception

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
In this study we show for the first time that the human basilar membrane contains elastin produced by the so‐called tympanic covering layer. It is believed to play an important functional role in human cochlear tuning, particularly low frequencies linked to our remarkable speech and music perception.

Between Financial and Socioemotional Wealth: Navigating Knotted Tensions in Family Business Innovation

open access: yesJournal of Product Innovation Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Current research on family business innovation tends to isolate individual tensions for analysis, while in reality, these tensions often arise in complex entanglements. To fill this research void, we focus on understanding how multiple tensions occur in the innovation process, how these tensions are entangled, and how they are managed. We turn

Why Industrial Internet of Things Platforms Fail: A Structuration Theory Perspective on Platform Evolution

open access: yesJournal of Product Innovation Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Despite their transformative potential, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) platforms often fail to evolve into scalable ecosystems. Research on IIoT platforms attributes failure to discrete factors such as governance misalignment or technological complexity and rarely considers how failure unfolds.

Night‐To‐Night Variability in Sleep Apnea Is Associated With Persistence and Burden of Device‐Detected Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
Device detected atrial fibrillation and sleep apnea. CV = coefficient of variation; RDI = Respiratory disturbance index. ABSTRACT Using pacemaker‐derived thoracic impedance monitoring, sleep apnea severity and its night‐to‐night variability can be continuously tracked in patients with implanted cardiac devices.
