Amphibian loss alters periphyton structure and invertebrate growth in montane streams. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Anim Ecol, 2022
This paper demonstrates that amphibian loss increases periphyton biomass, causes shifts in algal assemblages and reduces invertebrate growth. It highlights the importance of protecting amphibians in order to maintain normal stream ecosystem functioning, especially in nonforested streams where periphyton in the main energy resource.

Interaction of Layered Silicates with Biomembranes: Ion Exchangers and Non‐Exchangers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 9, Issue 29, October 13, 2022., 2022
Layered silicates (LS) induce cell membrane damage which is the result of the combined contribution of particle surface hydroxyl species, that is, aluminols and silanols, and cation exchange capacity. This work offers a new rationale to explain the interfacial phenomena of LS for biomaterial design and nanofabrication.

Reactions of Schiff Base‐Substituted Diselenides and ‐tellurides with Ni(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II) Phosphine Complexes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 2020, Issue 45, Page 4303-4312, December 7, 2020., 2020
Stable nickel(II), palladium(II) and platinum(II) complexes with selenolato‐ or tellurolato‐substituted Schiff bases are obtained from reactions of the corresponding dichalcogenides with PPh3‐containing metal(II) starting materials. Released phosphine ligands act as selective reducing agents for metal‐coordinated dichalcogenides during such reactions ...

Rhenium(V) Complexes with Selenolato‐ and Tellurolato‐Substituted Schiff Bases – Released PPh3 as a Facile Reductant

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Inorganic Chemistry, Volume 2019, Issue 47, Page 4974-4984, December 19, 2019., 2019
Stable rhenium(V) complexes with selenolato‐ or tellurolato‐substituted Schiff bases are obtained from reactions of the corresponding dichalcogenides with PPh3‐containing rhenium(V) starting materials. The released phosphine ligands act as selective reducing agents for the dichalcogenides during such reactions.

Study of the Equilibrium, Kinetics, and Thermodynamics of Boron Removal from Waters with Commercial Magnesium Oxide

open access: yesInternational Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
In the present work, the equilibrium, thermodynamics, and kinetics of boron removal from aqueous solutions by the adsorption on commercial magnesium oxide powder were studied in a batch reactor. The adsorption efficiency of boron removal increases with temperature from 25°C to 50°C.
