The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Method to determine the optimal impedance profile of nonuniform transmission lines used for pulsed power accelerators

open access: yesPhysical Review Accelerators and Beams
Nonuniform transmission lines (NTLs) are widely used in pulsed power accelerators because they provide an efficient way to achieve impedance matching and pulse shaping.

Gyrotropic reciprocal bianisotropic metamaterial printed dipole antenna: Investigation of negative input impedance and mutual coupling

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2022
This paper surveys a new class of electromagnetic materials. The emphasis is on the bianisotropic medium; a complex material which has never been applied in antenna design.

Transistor biased amplifier minimizes diode discriminator threshold attenuation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1967
Transistor biased amplifier has a biased diode discriminator driven by a high impedance /several megohms/ current source, rather than a voltage source with several hundred ohms output impedance. This high impedance input arrangement makes the incremental

Moment method analysis of an archimedean spiral printed on a layered dielectric sphere [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A method of moments model is presented to analyze Archimedean spirals that are printed on a layered dielectric sphere. The model is derived assuming an arbitrary location of the spiral.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
