Input parameters and scenarios, including economic inputs

open access: yes, 2012
Geographical locations of the farms are the core in these models. We used geographical data, number of animals and specification of herd types for the 50,853 herds in the Danish Husbandry Register (CHR) in 2007. For each herd, the daily probability of moving animals, to another herd or to the abattoir, was calculated as the sum of all registered ...

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

Optimizing photoactivation of PA‐mCherry for optical pooled CRISPR screens

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Photoactivatable PA‐mCherry finds widespread use to optically tag individual cells. However, confocal 405 nm UV laser‐scanning (normal scan) is much less efficient than widefield UV illumination, limiting the use of PA‐mCherry on confocal instruments. We remedy this limitation by reporting that rapid and repeated confocal scanning with a low‐intensity,

ptimization the Parameters of Magnetic Abrasive Process Using Taguchi Method to Improve the Surface Roughness

open access: yesAl-Khawarizmi Engineering Journal, 2017
Magnetic abrasive finishing (MAF) process is one of non-traditional or advanced finishing methods which is suitable for different materials and produces high quality level of surface finish where it uses magnetic force as a machining pressure.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Study of nuclear physics input-parameters via high-resolution γ-ray spectroscopy

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
For nucleosynthesis networks of isotopes heavier than those in the iron-peak region, reaction rates are often calculated within the Hauser-Feshbach statistical model.

Using the Multi-Response Method with Desirability Functions to Optimize the Zinc Electroplating of Steel Screws

open access: yesMetals, 2018
Zinc electroplating is a coating process controlled by several input process parameters. However, the commonly used input parameters for setting the process of zinc deposition are current density, temperature of the coating solution, zinc concentration ...
