Stage‐Specific H3K14 and H3K23 Succinylation Orchestrates Insect Metamorphosis and Oogenesis
Stage‐specific succinylation of histone H3 at lysine 14 and 23 differentially controls insect metamorphosis and oogenesis through distinct GPCR‐PKC signaling cascades, revealing an evolutionarily conserved epigenetic mechanism that coordinates key life‐history traits.

The insect hormones ecdysone (20E) and juvenile hormone III (JH) have been demonstrated to stimulate the secretion of conidia mucilage and pigments in Hirsutella satumaensis. However, the underlying mechanisms remain elusive.

NLSS3 Impairs SHM1 Autophagic Degradation to Regulate Leaf Morphology and Salt Tolerance in Rice
In rice, NLSS3 binds and shields SHM1 from autophagic degradation to maintain serine homeostasis. The A132P mutation in nlss3 disrupts this, triggering SHM1 loss, metabolic dysfunction, K+ imbalance, and impaired ROS scavenging, which collectively drive narrow leaves and salt sensitivity.

NFYB Integrates Hormonal Signals into Tissue Allometry by Promoting Protein Biosynthesis
In the American cockroach, NFYB acts as a spatiotemporin that translates distinct hormonal cues into tissue‐specific allometry. Juvenile hormone activates NFYB in the early fat body, while 20‐hydroxyecdysone induces it in late wing pads. NFYB then promotes protein biosynthesis via core translational machinery, driving differential growth across the ...

Citrus, a key insect eggshell protein
Molecular aspects of chorion synthesis in insects have been studied deeply in species with meroistic ovaries. Information available in insects with panoistic ovaries is principally structural whereas molecular information in these species is scarce. This paper seeks to balance the above situation by describing a novel chorion gene, Citrus, from the ...

Resistant Peanut Genotype Reprograms Rhizosphere Metabolism to Enhance Bacterial Wilt Suppression
The resistant peanut genotype selectively recruits beneficial bacteria, which coincides with the activation of salicylic acid (SA)‐dependent systemic acquired resistance (SAR) against Ralstonia solanacearum. Keystone rhizosphere metabolites are positively correlated with both beneficial microbiome assembly and SAR gene expression.

Endogenous resistance to insect pests in alfalfa: engineering for enhanced resistance [PDF]
Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) is a valuable forage crop grown throughout the World. While the crop is resistant to attack by many insect pests, it is subject to potentially severe losses through the action of several specific pests, which are adapted to ...
