Highly pathogenic isolates of Metarhizium anisopliae attracted Drosophila suzukii. Identifying the responsible compounds for this attraction could help the development of these isolates for pest monitoring and overall pest management. Abstract BACKGROUND Drosophila suzukii, commonly known as spotted wing drosophila (SWD), is a highly invasive and ...

Intercropping mitigates incidence of the oilseed rape insect pest complex
Intercropping reduces the incidence of the oilseed rape insect pest complex with a significant impact of the direct visual and physical disruption provided by the companion plant. Abstract BACKGROUND Oilseed rape (OSR, Brassica napus) is a major crop requiring numerous phytosanitary treatments.

N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET) is a widely used active ingredient in insect repellents, particularly in areas where mosquitoes are prevalent. Although the photolysis of DEET is inevitably to occur when exposed to sunlight, the potential risks associated

A natural barrier: tick-repellent potential of a spruce-derived volatile blend against Hyalomma excavatum and Ixodes ricinus. [PDF]
Both active and passive questing ticks, Hyalomma excavatum and Ixodes ricinus, were assessed for behavioural responses to two novel plant‐derived repellent volatile organic compound blends. Both tick species were repelled by the products, and both novo blends were significantly more repellent than currently available commercial products.

ABSTRACT Biofouling on artificial surfaces in aquatic ecosystems leads to significant economic losses. Current antifouling paints, while effective, often harm the aquatic environment. This study explores ecologically safe antifouling alternatives derived from plants, focusing on the aquatic macrophytes Cabomba caroliniana (CC) and Schoenoplectus ...
