The PP2A‐B56 Binding Site LxxIxE Contributes to Asp‐Mediated Spindle Pole Stability

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The organization of microtubules into a mitotic spindle is critical for animal cell proliferation and involves the cooperation of hundreds of proteins whose molecular roles and regulation are not fully understood. The protein product of the Drosophila gene abnormal spindle, Asp, is a microtubule‐associated protein required for correct mitotic ...

Conserved Phosphorylation of the Myosin1e TH1 Domain Impacts Membrane Association and Function in Yeast and Worms

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cells have an intrinsic ability to rapidly respond to environmental change to regulate cell cycle progression and membrane organisation, thereby affecting cell growth and division. The actin cytoskeleton is a highly dynamic complex of proteins that can rapidly reorganise to change the growth pattern of a cell.

How forest insect outbreaks depend on forest size and tree distribution: an individual-based model results [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this work, an individual-based model of forest insect outbreaks is presented. The results obtained show that the outbreak is an emerging feature of the system. It is a common product of the characteristics of insects, the environment in which the insects live, and the way insects behave in it. The outbreak dynamics is an effect of scale.

Short Wavelength Limit of the Dynamic Matsubara Local Field Correction

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate the short wavelength limit of the dynamic Matsubara local field correction G˜q,zl$$ \tilde{G}\left(\mathbf{q},{z}_l\right) $$ of the uniform electron gas based on direct ab initio path integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) results over an unprecedented range of wavenumbers, q≲20qF$$ q\lesssim 20{q}_{\mathrm{F}} $$, where qF$$ {q}_{\mathrm{

Dynamics of Insect Paraintelligence: How a Mindless Colony of Ants Meaningfully Moves a Beetle [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this work, a new concept called Vector Dissipation of Randomness (VDR) is developed and formalized. It describes the mechanism by which complex multicomponent systems transition from chaos to order through the filtering of random directions, accumulation of information in the environment, and self-organization of agents.
