We obtained potential bacterial laccase‐like multicopper oxidase (LMCO) sequences through metagenomic sequencing. All sequences exhibited significant differences from known LMCOs in databases. To select the most promising candidates, we performed structure prediction and molecular docking using alphafold2, metal3d and rosetta.

Sustainable vector/pest control using the permanent Sterile Insect Technique [PDF]
Vector/Pest control is essential to reduce the risk of vector-borne diseases or losses in crop fields. Among biological control tools, the sterile insect technique (SIT), is the most promising one. SIT control generally consists of massive releases of sterile insects in the targeted area in order to reach elimination or to lower the pest population ...

Insect-Foundation: A Foundation Model and Large-scale 1M Dataset for Visual Insect Understanding [PDF]
In precision agriculture, the detection and recognition of insects play an essential role in the ability of crops to grow healthy and produce a high-quality yield. The current machine vision model requires a large volume of data to achieve high performance. However, there are approximately 5.5 million different insect species in the world.

Cell Biology During Infection of Plant Viruses in Insect Vectors and Plant Hosts.
Plant viruses typically cause severe pathogenicity in plants, even resulting in the death of plants. Many pathogenic plant viruses are transmitted in a persistent manner via insect vectors. Interestingly, unlike in the plant hosts, persistent viruses are

Poka: A Necro‐Robot Beetle with a Measured Payload Ratio of 6847%
Here, Poka, a necro‐robot beetle with the ability to carry more than 68 times its own weight, is introduced, making it also a walking robot with the highest payload ratio measured to date. This paper is concerned with the design, manufacture and validation of ‘Poka', a novel millimetre‐scale necro‐robot aimed at bridging the performance gap between ...

Mosquitoes rely on their microbiota for B vitamin synthesis. We previously found that Aedes aegypti third-instar larvae cleared of their microbiota were impaired in their development, notably due to a lack of folic acid (vitamin B9).
