Synthesis and photoactivated insecticidal activity of tetraethynylsilanes

Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 2010
A series of tetraethynylsilanes (TETS) have been synthesized by reaction of silicon tetrachloride (SiCl(4)) with Ar-C triple bond CLi, which was prepared in situ by treatment of Ar-C triple bond CH with n-BuLi. For these TETS thus prepared, their photoactivated insecticidal activities against the 4th-instar larvae of Aedes albopictus (Skuse) were ...

Insecticidal activity of Bacillus laterosporus

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1985
Abstract Strains of Bacillus laterosporus demonstrated pathogenic activity for second-instar larvae of the mosquito, Culex quinquefasciatus, but failed to demonstrate detectable pathogenicity against larvae of the cabbage looper, Trichoplusia ni. Of 29 strains of the bacterium screened, 16 displayed pathogenicity for mosquito larvae.

Insecticidal activity of the enantiomers of fipronil

Pest Management Science, 2003
Abstract The two enantiomers of the insecticide fipronil were made by preparative HPLC. The insecticidal activities of the racemic mixture and the two enantiomers against selected agricultural or household pests (cotton stainer, Dysdercus cingulatus F; grain weevil,

Insecticidal activity of Vitex mollis

Fitoterapia, 2007
Organic extracts from the leaves of Vitex mollis were assessed for their toxic effect on fall armyworm neonate larvae (Spodoptera frugiperda), an important insect pest of corn. The extracts showed insecticidal and insect growth regulatory activity, being CHCl(3)-MeOH (1:1) extract the most active, also found to be toxic in the Artemia salina test.

The biology of insecticidal activity and resistance

Insect Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, 2011
Identifying insecticide resistance mechanisms is paramount for pest insect control, as the understandings that underpin insect control strategies must provide ways of detecting and managing resistance. Insecticide resistance studies rely heavily on detailed biochemical and genetic analyses.

Comparisons of Insecticidal Activation

Nature, 1952
VARIOUS substances activate certain insecticides, especially the pyrethrins; that is to say, these substances, though themselves non-toxic, intensify the toxic action of pyrethrins or other insecticides upon insects. However, no attempt seems to have been made up to now to compare activation effects quantitatively.

Search for insecticides: Chemical constitution and insecticidal activity

Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 1950
AbstractThe synthesis of a number of compounds containing mostly a chlorobenzene nucleus as the toxic grouping and a CCl2 (as CHOH·CC13, COCC13, O·COCC13 or > CHCC13) or a COCH3 group as the chief lipoid‐soluble component, has been described by the authors in the earlier papers of this series.2, 3, 4, 5 This paper incorporates the results of ...

Insecticidal activity of N‐arylalkylbenzhydrolpiperidines

Pest Management Science, 2002
AbstractBenzhydrolpiperidine (BZP) insecticides represent a novel class of chemistry. Their specificity and efficacy as well as their low mammalian toxicity give them excellent potential for commercialization. Several N‐arylalkylbenzhydrolpiperidines were tested for activity against a variety of insects in the laboratory and greenhouse.
