Evaluating predatory arthropods for the biological control of the invasive Thrips parvispinus (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) in greenhouse sweet pepper

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This study shows that Orius laevigatus, alone or with other predators, consistently achieved the highest suppression of Thrips parvispinus and improved plant productivity. Franklinothrips vespiformis coexisted with O. laevigatus, suggesting compatibility, while Amblyseius swirskii declined, indicating incompatibility. Individually, F. vespiformis and A.

Genotype‐by‐environment interaction informs selection for seed physiological quality and stink bug tolerance in soybean under pest management contrasts

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Genotype‐by‐environment interaction shaped soybean seed stability under contrasting insecticide regimes. Seed longevity emerged as a stable, management‐relevant trait under pest pressure. High‐pressure, no‐insecticide conditions improved discrimination of tolerant genotypes for integrated pest management deployment.

Commercial permethrin elicits chemoreceptive responses on different Anopheles gambiae sensory appendages

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Anopheles gambiae mosquitoes exhibit takeoff responses when presented to commercial permethrin headspace. This product elicits electrophysiological activity in the antennae and tarsi. However, only the chemical information acquired from the tarsi plays a major role in the observed behavioral response.

Rootstock impacts on citrus flush dynamics, vegetative growth, and Diaphorina citri infestation and dispersion: Implications for huanglongbing management

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Dwarfing citrus rootstocks restrict flush shoot growth on the scion, thereby reducing Asian citrus psyllid infestation, dispersal, and huanglongbing (HLB) progression. These findings support the use of dwarfing rootstocks as an effective cultural strategy in integrated HLB management for citrus orchards.

Perceptions, challenges and determinants of management strategy choices for combating fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) infestation in Ghana

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Despite high awareness of fall armyworm, a significant gap remains in the use of sustainable and effective control measures. Farmers predominantly perceive synthetic pesticides as ideal despite studies highlighting botanical and traditional methods as more sustainable.

Antibacterial Activity of Crocus sativus Essential Oil against Selected Phytopathogenic Bacteria and its Insecticidal Potential

open access: yesScientific Papers Animal Science and Biotechnologies
Crocus sativus, commonly known as saffron crocus, is a plant that looks delicately fragrant and produces stigmas. When harvested and dried, these stigmas become saffron. Saffron is a spice that has been used by humans since ancient times.

Synthesis and Insecticidal Activity of Bicyclic Phosphorothionates and Related Monocyclic Phosphorothionates

open access: yes, 1989
Some thiono-type bicyclic phosphorus esters (BPS) were synthesized and bioassayed for insecticidal activity against susceptible (SRS) houseflies. n-Propyl was most favorable as a substituent at position 4 for insecticidal activity.
