A Mathematical Model of Flavescence Dorée Epidemiology [PDF]
Flavescence dor\'ee (FD) is a disease of grapevine transmitted by an insect vector, $Scaphoideus$ $titanus$ Ball. At present, no prophylaxis exists, so mandatory control procedures (e.g. removal of infected plants, and insecticidal sprays to avoid transmission) are in place in Italy and other European countries.

The chemical analysis of aerial parts of the melliferous Viguiera dentata led to the isolation of 20 substances, including the new cycloartanes 24‐epi‐argentatin C, 7β‐hydroxy‐24‐epi‐argentatin C, 7β‐hydroxy‐argentatin B. In‐combo results indicated that specific argentatins and ent‐kaurenoic acids have the potential to control Spodoptera frugiperda ...

A fast-slow model for adaptive resistance evolution [PDF]
Resistance to insecticide is considered nowadays one of the major threats to insect control, as its occurrence reduces drastically the efficiency of chemical control campaigns, and may also perturb the application of other control methods, like biological and genetic control.

Lienhwalides: Unique Tropolone–Maleidride Hybrids from Hypoxylon lienhwacheense
Lienhwalides are novel tropolone–maleidride hybrid molecules unique in nature. Absolute configuration is solved by semisynthetic approaches and X‐ray analysis. Interplay between both lwt and lwm biosynthetic gene clusters is responsible for the production of lienhwalides.

A thermostable bacterial metallohydrolase that degrades organophosphate plasticizers
A cyclase‐phosphotriesterase (C‐PTE) from Ruegeria pomeroyi DSS‐3 has recently been identified for its capacity to detoxify several organophosphate compounds. However, several aspects of this enzyme remain unexplored, such as its activity with industrial organophosphates, its molecular structure and its thermostability.

Modeling and Optimal Control Applied to a Vector Borne Disease [PDF]
A model with six mutually-exclusive compartments related to Dengue disease is presented. In this model there are three vector control tools: insecticides (larvicide and adulticide) and mechanical control. The problem is studied using an Optimal Control (OC) approach. The human data for the model is based on the Cape Verde Dengue outbreak.
