“Humanizar”: aprendizajes sobre alteridad, salud y futuro en una experiencia de investigación compartida

open access: yesThe Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology, Volume 31, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The visit to Bogotá of a fééeneminaa (Muinane) friend, Célimo Nejedeka Jifichíu, and in particular, his work in researching and transmitting traditional health knowledge, offer the pretext to navigate the relationship between elements that at first glance seem distant from each other: indigenous imaginaries about otherness, their visions of ...

Sugar provisioning increases parasitoid numbers in agroecosystems but may not reduce pest densities: A meta‐analysis

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
Our findings demonstrate that providing sugar sources reliably supports parasitoid populations and parasitism rate but does not systematically translate into improved pest suppression or yield gains. These results suggest that, for economic and practical reasons, sugar inputs at the edge of cultivated fields should be favoured.

Evolution of Reproductive Plasticity in a Seasonal Tropical Environment

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 29, Issue 5, May 2026.
We reveal widespread occurrence of seasonal reproductive plasticity, including reproductive diapause, in Nymphalid butterflies in a seasonal rainforest in the Amazon. This highlights that, not only in temperate but also tropical habitats, seasonality is an important driver of plastic life history strategies. ABSTRACT Seasonality can drive the evolution

Local canopy cover, shade tree identity and landscape tree cover shape leaf‐cutter ant nest density and herbivory in cacao agroforestry systems

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 4, April 2026.
Our findings provide practical guidance for agroforestry management by demonstrating that intercropping with selected species can mitigate damage from leaf‐cutter ants in cacao agroforests. At the landscape scale, high tree cover was associated with low herbivory rates, emphasising the need to maintain or restore forested habitats.

The ecology of attraction: Fruit traits and frugivore diversity in neotropical Piper

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 611-623, March 2026.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Fruit traits can benefit plant reproduction by enhancing seed dispersal by mutualistic frugivores (e.g. seed dispersal syndromes), but identifying the role of specific fruit traits in mediating frugivory is challenging because these traits can serve multiple functions ...

Plant Selection for the Establishment of Push–Pull Strategies for Zea mays–Spodoptera frugiperda Pathosystem in Morelos, Mexico

open access: yesInsects, 2020
Regulations imposed on the use of chemical insecticides call for the development of environmental-friendly pest management strategies. One of the most effective strategies is the push–pull system, which takes advantage of the behavioral response of the ...
