Selectividad de insecticidas con el parasitoide Tamarixia triozae (Hymenoptera: Eulophidae) para el control de Bactericera cockerelli (Hemiptera: Triozidae)

open access: yesNova Scientia, 2020
Introducción: Bactericera cockerelli es un insecto que daña cultivos de solanáceas, principalmente papa (Solanum tuberosum L) y tomate (Solanum lycopersicum L). El manejo de B.

Plant functional diversity does not dilute virus infection, but community virus prevalence positively correlates with net C3 grass production

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study examines if plant functional diversity dilutes plant virus prevalence in grass hosts and evaluates how virus prevalence influences net community and host production. Functional diversity did not mitigate or amplify virus prevalence. While we found that species relationships between virus prevalence and production varied, overall, virus ...

Global insular leaf size shifts follow the island rule, independently of insect herbivory and macroclimate

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 2, February 2026.
We found a positive, non‐linear, saturating relationship between mainland and island leaf sizes, reflecting an island rule‐like pattern. Small‐leaved mainland species tend to develop larger leaves on islands, while this effect weakens for larger‐leaved species, a pattern consistent across both conspecific and congeneric comparisons. Abstract The island

Mitigating light pollution impacts on arthropods based on light‐emitting diode properties

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Light pollution from artificial light at night (ALAN) is a significant environmental problem with far‐reaching consequences for ecological systems. Recent innovations in light‐emitting diode (LED) technology may offer sustainable outdoor lighting solutions, but scientific evidence is lacking. We investigated the effects of various LED lighting

Understanding Pollination in Urban Food Production: The Importance of Data Validation and Participant Feedback for Citizen Science Project Design

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 1, Page 157-175, January 2026.
Urban agriculture depends on insect pollination, but knowledge gaps persist due to difficulties accessing diverse growing spaces. We developed a citizen science approach for monitoring insect visits to crops and compared grower‐collected data to that of a trained researcher while also gathering participant feedback.

Phylogenomic insights into helmet evolution in neotropical treehoppers (Hemiptera: Membracidae): Conserved morphological complexity across five subfamilies

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January‐March 2026.
Phylogenomic analyses of 2539 nuclear loci reveal robust relationships among major Membracidae lineages. Helmet shape complexity shows strong phylogenetic conservatism across genera, tribes and subfamilies. Pronotal modularity evolves across lineages, highlighting the developmental diversity of treehopper morphologies. Abstract We utilized genomic data

Over‐reliance on Completeness exposes ultraconserved elements datasets to non‐randomly distributed missing data

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 51, Issue 1, January‐March 2026.
Using nine arthropod UCE datasets, we show that the Completeness metric can substantially underestimate non‐randomly distributed missing data. Because Completeness only records whether a terminal is present per locus, it can mask concentrated missing data in particular taxa, leading to artificially inflated branch lengths and altered node support.
