Manganese carbonyl-mediated reactions of azabutadienes with phenylacetylene, methyl acrylate and other unsaturated molecules [PDF]
Reaction of PhCH₂Mn(CO)₅ with l,4-di-aryl-1-aza-1,3-butadienes gave substituted pyrrolinonyl rings which were η⁴-coordinated to a Mn(CO)₃ group. These are formed by intramolecular CO insertion into a (non-isolated) cyclomanganated intermediate, followed ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Putative Host-Derived Insertions in the Genomes of Circulating SARS-CoV-2 Variants
Insertions in the SARS-CoV-2 genome have the potential to drive viral evolution, but the source of the insertions is often unknown. Recent proposals have suggested that human RNAs could be a source of some insertions, but the small size of many ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Functionalization of heterocyclic compounds using polyfunctional magnesium and zinc reagents
In this review we summarize the most important procedures for the preparation of functionalized organzinc and organomagnesium reagents. In addition, new methods for the preparation of polyfunctional aryl- and heteroaryl zinc- and magnesium compounds, as ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Insertion Heuristics for Central Cycle Problems [PDF]
A central cycle problem requires a cycle that is reasonably short and keeps a the maximum distance from any node not on the cycle to its nearest node on the cycle reasonably low.

A q-weighted version of the Robinson-Schensted algorithm
We introduce a q-weighted version of the Robinson-Schensted (column insertion) algorithm which is closely connected to q-Whittaker functions (or Macdonald polynomials with t=0) and reduces to the usual Robinson-Schensted algorithm when q=0.

We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
