Insertion loss from using double protection
Applied Acoustics, 1999Abstract Insertion losses of 16 combinations of four plugs and four muffs worn simultaneously have been measured using an Acoustical Test Fixture (ATF) to validate the generally accepted rule of thumb that the attenuation of a double protection is 5 dB higher than the better components.

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1956The effect of source and termination impedance on the insertion loss of a side branch resonator in a duct is calculated and compared with measurements. 2007 IEEE International Vacuum Electronics Conference, 2007Measurements of RF loss in millimeter- wave circuits typically are limited to frequencies that are impedance matched to permit transmission through the circuit. An alternate cold-test method can provide estimates of such RF absorption for frequencies that are not matched by measuring return- loss resonances without regard for coupling conditions.
