Quantifying Cardiac, Respiratory, and Low Frequency Components of CSF Motion From fMRI Inflow Effects

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow oscillations have emerged as a potentially important marker related to brain clearance, but their acquisition often relies on specialized imaging MRI sequences. The purpose of this work was to enable quantitative assessment of CSF flow associated with cardiac, respiratory, and low‐frequency cycles using ...

Head‐to‐Head Comparison of Four Ultrasound Elastography Techniques in Detecting Advanced Fibrosis

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
Elastography is an important noninvasive method for diagnosing advanced fibrosis (AF); however, evidence remains insufficient, particularly regarding acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI) techniques. This prospective mulitcenter study concludes that vibration controlled transient elastography (VCTE) demonstrates superior diagnostic performance to ...

Incidence of central diabetes insipid us among the patients undergoing pituitary tumor surgery 06 through trans-sphenoidal approach

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Sciences, 2019
Background: Diabetes insipidus (DI) is a common complication following pituitary surgery. Thiscondition can be transient or permanent and the signs and symptoms of this disorder can bemimicked by the normal postoperative course. Objective: This study was carried out to find out the incidence of central diabetes insipidus (DI)among the patients ...

Comparison of Intraoperative Doppler Flow Measurements and Algorithmic Flow Estimations in Patients Undergoing Durable Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation

open access: yesArtificial Organs, EarlyView.
Direct intraoperative HeartMate 3 LVAD flow measurements using an ultrasonic probe revealed consistently higher values by approximately 0.5 L/min compared to device‐estimated flows. This discrepancy remained stable across pump speed settings, highlighting the importance of distinguishing measured from estimated flow in HeartMate 3 patients.

Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis arising in a child with Langerhans cell histiocytosis

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2014
Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is characterized by the proliferation of clonal dendritic cells, while hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) is an extreme inflammatory process sustained by the uncontrolled activation of macrophages. HLH can

Mesopic microperimetry in Stargardt disease: Application and reliability

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose Mesopic microperimetry (mMP) is a promising functional endpoint in clinical trials for Stargardt disease type 1 (STGD1). This study evaluated the test–retest variability of mMP and influencing factors, which is essential for ensuring reliability in future STGD1 trials.

Variation in measuring and ophthalmic factors correlating with central corneal thickness in the Northern Finland birth cohort eye study

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose To assess the correlation between optical coherence tomography (OCT) and ultrasound pachymetry (USP) as methods for analysing central corneal thickness (CCT) and to evaluate ophthalmic factors affecting CCT. Methods The eyes of 3070 subjects of the Northern Finland Birth Cohort (NFBC) were examined at the age of 45–49 years.

Apparent Bilateral Aldosterone Suppression During Adrenal Vein Sampling: An Artefact of the Liaison Chemiluminescence Immunoassay and Other Causes Revealed by Comparisons With Another Commercial Immunoassay and Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Subtyping of primary aldosteronism usually requires adrenal vein sampling (AVS). Interpretation can be compromised by apparent bilateral aldosterone suppression (ABAS), which we hypothesised reflects an artefact of the Liaison immunoassay of aldosterone.

A Simplified Method for Assessing Bone Age in Adolescents

open access: yesClinical Endocrinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To develop and evaluate a simplified method for skeletal age assessment in adolescents as a rapid alternative to the Greulich–Pyle (GP) method. Design Retrospective methodological study comparing the simplified method with the GP atlas, with duplicate readings by experienced and inexperienced raters.
