RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

An overview of the factors affecting fiber-optic communication lines during lightning discharges and modeling of laboratory installations designed to study the effect of a magnetic field on fiber parameters

open access: yesОмский научный вестник
The article provides an overview of the known effects that influence the transmission of information over optical fiber and that arise as a result of lightning discharges: the electro-optical Kerr effect, the Faraday effect, the influence of ionizing ...

Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Unsteady blade pressures on a propfan: Predicted and measured compressibility effects [PDF]

open access: yes
The effect of compressibility on unsteady blade pressures is studied by solving the three-dimensional Euler equations. The operation of the eight-bladed SR7L propfan at a 4.75 deg angle of attack was considered.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Hospital Readmission After Traumatic Brain Injury Hospitalization in Community‐Dwelling Older Adults

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the risk of hospital readmission after an index hospitalization for TBI in older adults. Methods Using data from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study, we used propensity score matching of individuals with an index TBI‐related hospitalization to individuals with (1) non‐TBI hospitalizations (primary analysis)

Effect of fitting tolerance on mechanical performance of CFRP/Al double-lap blind riveted joints

open access: yesScientific Reports
Blind rivets are widely used in connecting composite materials. However, due to the anisotropic properties, as well as the complex failure modes of the composite materials, it is difficult to optimize the joint design of the riveted joint.
