A Fiber Bragg Grating-Based Dynamic Tension Detection System for Overhead Transmission Line Galloping

open access: yesSensors, 2018
Galloping of overhead transmission lines (OHTLs) may induce conductor breakage and tower collapse, and there is no effective method for long distance distribution on-line galloping monitoring.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Migraine and tension-type headache triggers in a Greek population

open access: yesArquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2015
Migraine and tension type headache are the two most common primary headaches. The purpose of this study was to detect differences in clinical characteristics and headache triggers and in a Greek cohort of 51 migraineurs and 12 patients with tension-type ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Implementation of Optical Meanders of the Optical-Fiber DTS System Based on Raman Stimulated Scattering into the Building Processes

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, 2012
The Optical fiber DTS (Distribution Temperature Systems) are unique distributed temperature systems using optical fiber as a sensor. These systems are able to measure the temperature along the fiber, in some case they can measure tension as well.

FRP pipeline performance in tensional and torsional S-lay installation loads

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Abstract The loading conditions of a composite pipeline is the main factor for its dimensioning. During S-lay offshore installation of multilayered FRP pipelines, severe tensional and torsional loads take place in the above sea part of the pipeline.

A Crane Overload Protection Controller for Blade Lifting Operation Based on Model Predictive Control

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Lifting is a frequently used offshore operation. In this paper, a nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC) scheme is proposed to overcome the sudden peak tension and snap loads in the lifting wires caused by lifting speed changes in a wind turbine blade

Evaluating the effect of γ‐oryzanol on MASLD pathology using a medaka fish model

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores a liver disease called MASLD, which is increasing worldwide and can lead to serious damage. Researchers used medaka fish instead of rodents to test a food compound, γ‐oryzanol. Fish fed this compound had less liver fat and healthier gut bacteria.
