The Generalized Spectral Kurtosis Estimator

open access: yes, 2010
Due to its conceptual simplicity and its proven effectiveness in real-time detection and removal of radio frequency interference (RFI) from radio astronomy data, the Spectral Kurtosis (SK) estimator is likely to become a standard tool of a new generation

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Linear and jump frequency changes of a signal in a room

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
The paper discusses the deformation of the instantaneous frequency of signals with linear and jump frequency changes propagating in a room. The instantaneous frequency deformation in a room has been compared on the basis of theoretical and experimental ...

A combined kernel-based fuzzy C-means clustering and spectral centroid for instantaneous frequency estimation

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
An improved instantaneous frequency estimation algorithm for rotating machines based on a kernel-based fuzzy C-means clustering (KFCM) algorithm used in association with a spectral centroid algorithm is proposed in this study. The clustering algorithm is

Digital decorrelator saves time and expense in acoustic testing of structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
Instantaneous signals from coherent random sound field are summed and time delayed to avoid introducing vectorial addition errors. Resultant statistically independent signals are applied to spectrometer.

Extreme-Point Symmetric Mode Decomposition Method for Data Analysis

open access: yes, 2013
An extreme-point symmetric mode decomposition (ESMD) method is proposed to improve the Hilbert-Huang Transform (HHT) through the following prospects: (1) The sifting process is implemented by the aid of 1, 2, 3 or more inner interpolating curves, which ...

Tuning the Dielectric Properties of Individual Clay Nanosheets by Interlayer Composition: Toward Nano‐Electret Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Problem of the instantaneous sound frequency measurement

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2015
This paper presents a method for the measurement of the so - called quasi-instantaneous frequency of acoustic signals, which is an approximation of the instantaneous frequency defined on the basis of theoretical considerations.

Matching Linear Chirplet Strategy-Based Synchroextracting Transform and Its Application to Rotating Machinery Fault Diagnosis

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Various time-frequency analysis methods have been employed for the vibration signal processing of rotating machinery under time-varying speeds. However, most methods suffer from time-frequency blurriness, particularly for signals experiencing fast ...

Attosecond probing of instantaneous AC Stark shifts in helium atoms

open access: yes, 2011
Based on numerical solutions of the time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation for either one or two active electrons, we propose a method for observing instantaneous level shifts in an oscillating strong infrared (IR) field in time, using a single tunable ...
