Instantaneous frequency estimation by using time-frequency distributions

2001 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37221), 2002
Estimation of the instantaneous frequency by using quadratic distributions from the general Cohen class is analyzed. Frequency modulated signals corrupted with a white stationary noise are considered. An expression for the variance is derived. It is shown that the variance is closely related to the non-noisy distribution of a predefined signal.

Fundamental frequency estimation based on instantaneous frequency amplitude spectrum

IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 2002
This paper describes a technique for estimating fundamental frequency of speech based on instantaneous frequency (IF). In the technique, fundamental frequency of a signal is obtained by evaluating its IF amplitude spectrum. We define a measure which represents how clearly the harmonic structure is shown in the IF amplitude spectrum.

Fundamental frequency determination based on instantaneous frequency estimation

Signal Processing, 1995
Abstract For certain types of speech coding algorithms, it is important to determine accurately the pitch period or the fundamental frequency of the speech signals. A new fundamental frequency determination method based on the instantaneous frequency estimation is presented in this paper.

Nonparametric estimation of instantaneous frequency

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1997
Summary: The local polynomial approximation of time-varying phase is used in order to estimate the instantaneous frequency and its derivatives for a complex-valued harmonic signal given by discrete-time observations with a noise. The considered estimators are high-order nonparametric generalizations of the short-time Fourier transform and the Wigner ...

Application of instantaneous frequency estimation for fundamental frequency detection

Proceedings of IEEE-SP International Symposium on Time- Frequency and Time-Scale Analysis, 2002
Speech signals are nonstationary processes in nature. To represent the nonstationarity, time-frequency analysis techniques are suitable tools since they represent signals simultaneously in both time and frequency. In this paper, the instantaneous frequency (IF) technique is used for fundamental frequency estimation.

Instantaneous Frequency Estimation Using Aggregate Spectrogram

2007
The are various definitions of instantaneous frequency (IF) but most of them have short comings. The most popular of these definitions, is the one given by Cohen. To estimate IF accuratly, techniques become more and more complex. This paper introduces the idea of aggregate spectrogram (AS).

Sequential MCMC Estimation of Nonlinear Instantaneous Frequency

2007 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing - ICASSP '07, 2007
Instantaneous frequency (IF) estimation of signals with nonlinear phase is challenging, especially for online processing. In this paper, we propose IF estimation using sequential Bayesian techniques, by combining the particle filtering method with the Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method.

Instantaneous frequency estimate for non-stationary signal

Fifth World Congress on Intelligent Control and Automation (IEEE Cat. No.04EX788), 2004
Instantaneous frequency (IF) estimate has important physical meaning for non-stationary signal. Traditional IF estimate methods were investigated, their features were compared and each technique had certain weaknesses. On the basis of these, the newly-emerged Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) method was introduced.

A WD-RANSAC Instantaneous Frequency Estimator

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2016
A Wigner distribution-based random sample consensus (RANSAC) algorithm for the instantaneous frequency estimation is proposed. The algorithm performance is studied for several signal types and compared with the state-of-the-art Viterbi algorithm in both accuracy and complexity.
