On-Chip Photonic-Assisted Instantaneous Microwave Frequency Measurement System

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2013
A novel instantaneous frequency measurement system based on a programmable photonic chip frequency discriminator is experimentally demonstrated. The microwave signal whose frequency is to be measured is used to modulate the phase of an optical carrier.

Photonic-based instantaneous microwave frequency measurement with extended range

Optics Communications, 2011
A novel approach to extend the frequency range and improve the resolution of photonic techniques for microwave frequency measurements based on frequency-to-power mapping is demonstrated. The simultaneous use of several amplitude comparison functions allows the extension of the measurement beyond a single monotonic region. Experimental results between 7

Instrument for the measurement of the instantaneous frequency

IMTC/99. Proceedings of the 16th IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (Cat. No.99CH36309), 2000
This paper describes the design and implementation of an instrument for the measurement of the instantaneous frequency of a signal. It is based on the extensive use of signal processing techniques and their implementation on efficient processors (digital signal processors).

Circuit for measurement of instantaneous frequency

American Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1980
This paper describes a circuit that measures the instantaneous frequency of a pulse train applied to the input. Analog outputs are provided that are linearly proportional to the interval between successive pulses and to the reciprocal of that same interval.

Broadband Instantaneous Frequency Measurement Receiver

The Herald of the Siberian State University of Telecommunications and Information Science, 2023
This paper proposes a structure of a broadband instantaneous frequency measurement receiver consisting of an analog correlator and a digital frequency estimation calculation unit. A feature of this structure is the use of only two ADCs regardless of the width of the operating frequency range. Expansion of the frequency range is achieved through the use

Algorithmic Measurement of Digital Instantaneous Frequency

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1976
This paper presents an algorithmic method for measuring the instantaneous frequency of a uniformly sampled FM signal. The measured parameter, termed digital instantaneous frequency, is defined in a manner similar to that used to describe frequency-modulated, continuous-time signals.

Instantaneous measurement of a varying frequency

Journal of Scientific Instruments, 1952
It is shown that it is possible to observe the instant of passage of a rapidly varying frequency through a specified value by beating it with a fixed frequency reference signal. The method is particularly suitable for frequency-time functions which are linear or have an inflexion at the point of observation.

Frequency Relaying Based on Instantaneous Frequency Measurement

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1996
A frequency relay capable of under/over frequency and rate of change of frequency measurements has been implemented on a digital signal processor using an instantaneous frequency measuring algorithm. Careful attention to the filtering aspects of the relay is needed under dynamic conditions due to frequency modulation of the input signal.

Superconductive digital instantaneous frequency measurement subsystem

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1993
A 5-b high-temperature-superconductive digital instantaneous frequency-measurement (DIFM) subsystem has been constructed for the determination of the frequency of unknown signals over a 500-MHz bandwidth, centered on 4 GHz, with a resolution of +or-7.8 MHz. The subsystem contains a cryogenic section with five discriminator modules using superconductive

Instantaneous power measurement in time‐frequency domain

European Transactions on Electrical Power, 1996
AbstractThe paper deals with an original application of the Short‐Time Fourier Transform (STFT) to instantaneous power measurements. This technique can be easily implemented in a dedicated instrument to perform accurate time‐frequency analysis of the time‐varying harmonic contents of network powers (in their active and imaginary components), which are ...
