High-Resolution Frequency Discriminator for Instantaneous Frequency Measurement Subsystem
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2018In this paper, a new 7-bit frequency discriminator for instantaneous frequency measurement applications is presented for the first time. The proposed discriminator is designed using microstrip band-stop spiral filters to achieve a compact size structure with high reject values between pass and reject bands.

Definition of instantaneous frequency and frequency measurability
American Journal of Physics, 1975It is pointed out that the definitions of instantaneous and Fourier frequencies of a signal are noncausal and their measurement requires physically unrealizable systems. Some additional definitions of frequency are given that are causal.

Instantaneous frequency measurement
Medical Electronics & Biological Engineering, 1963A method is outlined for obtaining an indication of instantaneous frequency by a computation of the reciprocal of the time for one period. This is accomplished by the discharge of a condenser through an element having current proportional to the square of the voltage. The square law element consists of a biased diode network.

Instantaneous frequency measurement using double-frequency probing
SPIE Proceedings, 2013This paper presents a new double-frequency method for the instantaneous frequency and amplitude measurement of unknown microwave signal. Using the specific interaction of double-frequency radiation and FBG (fiber Bragg grating) with a π phase shift allowed us to obtain measuring characteristics, that are independent of the energy fluctuations of the ...

A method for the measurement of instantaneous pulse frequency
Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1969The analysis of nervous and muscular systems is often facilitated by the ability to perform on-line measurement of instantaneous impulse frequency. This paper is a description of an analogue division technique which is suitable for the measurement of impulse frequencies in the range 01-1000 impulses per second.

Instantaneous frequency (IF) is an important signal characteristic arising in many fields. It is a concept intimately linked to time–frequency analysis, where it can be obtained from a time–frequency distribution (TFD) as the first conditional moment in frequency, suggesting that the IF is the average frequency at each time.

On the measurement of the instantaneous frequency and amplitude of partials in vocal vibrato
IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing, 2006In this paper, we analyze some methodological and practical grounds affecting a correct estimation of the instantaneous amplitude (IA) and instantaneous frequency (IF) of the partials of vocal vibrato signals. This particular class of acoustical signals can be described as a set of harmonics, or partials, whose amplitude and frequency vary with time ...

Rapid measurement of digital instantaneous frequency
IEEE Transactions on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 1975A new method is proposed for estimating the frequency domain structure of digital signals which may be characterized as having a narrow-band, rapidly time-varying spectrum. The estimated parameter is termed the digital instantaneous frequency of the input and is defined in a manner similar to that used previously to describe frequency-modulated ...
